Would this attack work? Before you answer, please note that there are NO troops on the front or left flank!!!!
I also added three more waves on the right flank filled with veteran crossbowmen, 35 wooden mantlets, and 5 ladders.

Firstly—no need to put tools on the front or left flank, since there aren't troops on it.
On the right flank, while it is technically tooled correctly, you're not going to be able to win the flank with just that wave.
Your right flank will be slaughtered, and the surviving defenders from the right flank (I would estimate 150-250) will move back to the courtyard. In the courtyard, your ~140 man ranged army will face off against about 300 ranged and melee troops. It may kill some melee troops, but not many.
The defending castellan cancels out your commander so that the melee defenders have a 48% advantage against your attackers, and the ranged defenders have a 51.5% bonus over your soldiers.
You need a better commander and more troops. Ideally you should be able to fill at least three of those waves and have a better commander.
If you had a better commander and more troops (hopefully at least an 80/80 commander with courtyard bonus), I would recommend filling all four waves of the left and front flank and leaving the right flank. That way, your troops won't be slaughtered on the right flank, and you'll have a few hundred more troops in the courtyard than the defender, as well as bonuses.
You'll get there in time.

Honestly though they barely change set-ups unless it's a really big castle. It happens, and yes you end up getting five or six hundred losses when it does (if not more), but it really doesn't happen that often and if you're lazy like me you take your chances.UltimateJhon (GB1) said:- Yes there IS a need to put tools on all flanks, because FLs change setups.TheBlueIcicle (US1) said:Firstly—no need to put tools on the front or left flank, since there aren't troops on it.

I used to tool all flanks and then the castles started to change to toolburning setups
so now I accept extra losses every 200 hits

If you read the text in the original post, you'd know I'd also fill the back 3 waves on the right flank with veteran crossbowmen and 35 wooden mantlets and 5 ladders, eachTheBlueIcicle (US1) said:Honestly though they barely change set-ups unless it's a really big castle. You should NEVER spy with anything less that 100%. How if the tools that you failed to see are all 4 slots of slit? This is FL castle, so you'll probably ok as you might win the right flank on later wave (you mentioned you loaded up with quite some mantlets), but if this is real players, most likely his tools is 4 layers deep, then you can say goodbye to your right flank. You will definitely win the CY due to lack of tools, but you will ended up with significantly more casualties that you plan or expected.
So always spy at 100%, or not at all (go blind, max out tools/troops, such in war) and pray you win.

"If you read the text in the original post" I gave you a clear view of what your attack would look like, exact percentages, and a detailed prediction, and missed one detail. Oops, I guess I didn't read your post.Ninja Emboar (US1) said:If you read the text in the original post, you'd know I'd also fill the back 3 waves on the right flank with veteran crossbowmen and 35 wooden mantlets and 5 ladders, each
But, taking into account the extra three waves, it's hard for me to say whether you'd win or loose. You will certainly loose a large amount of troops. If I were you, I would fill the left and middle flanks with melee attackers to counter the ranged defenders in the courtyard.

Well with that commander not even nomads will work efficiently , work on your commanders
Do towers and nomads [even though you will have big losses doing nomads you need to do it to get better equipment for fewer losses]
I suggest buying the lamella armor and the rest of the expensive commander gear [except for the hero]

Ever heard of tool-burning the FCs?
My strategy is go down the center and a flank, sending a toolburn wave and then stick invader ladders and wood mants. "So what if it takes a little while?" I say. I can still hit a bunch of them at a time. Even if they tool-burn me (which has never happened as far as I can remember), that's only ~60 wood mants on average.
But for low losses hitting like that you'd need a good com (90/90 or close to it) and high CY.
Like Herveus said, you need to work on your commander. Not only that, but troops. I'd recommend either mostly avoiding the foreigners for now until you can regularly hold 1000 attackers (at least) at an OP and instead pound towers in outers and nomads, using the res to build up food prod. The ice towers are quite easy to defeat, and sands aren't too bad either.

What if my commander now has like 60% wall and something gate (gate doesn't matter here, no defenders @ front or left flank), and I had 22 War Horns on the front so my melee troops will do better in the courtyard against the ranged?

Oh, and I moved 26 Vet Crossbowmen to an op and sent 26 Vet Two-Handed Swordsmen to my main in exchange, would that help?Ninja Emboar (US1) said:What if my commander now has like 60% wall and something gate (gate doesn't matter here, no defenders @ front or left flank), and I had 22 War Horns on the front so my melee troops will do better in the courtyard against the ranged?
Also, I could add a bit more melee attack power to my commander, I have a piece of equipment with the same wall bonus but also melee bonus instead of some other bonus
