How can you know the number of  WAVES being sent on your castle?

Looking to the number of soldiers/tools used in the attack...
or if you have the battle report just look at it lol

Well you can look at HoLs. If they have level 120-359 its most likely 5th wave, 360+ should be 6th wave. 0-119 is 4th waves unless lack of troops. 

The attacker can always trick the defender, they could send 1 troop for each flank on the first 2 waves and fill the rest in to make it look like less waves. Normal levels have select levels they earn more waves

What about F C, Bloodcrows etc?

Khan can send 5 or 6 waves.

They used to in the beginning but people complained they were to strong and look what jokes we got now , In the beginning they even sent highlander with good geming.

You are right. I didn't even remember that. They also hit you more than once.
