Hello peeps, first of all i would like to say this is my first time playing this game and in terms of leveling up ive gotten far but i still dont understand certain things. If im posting in the wrong section i apologize for this.
Basically since the beginning of my gameplay, i have been using the "auto" function when filling in troops for an attack, so all troops + tools are alocated in the waves via the auto function. It's gotten to a point where it seems like im losing far too many troops during npc attacks.
For example i would send out 800 troops to a bloodcrow with 650~ troops and i would lose around 400-500 troops during this battle, is this normal?
Could someone explain to me how i can manually set up my attacks in order to minimize casualties?
Another problem i have is, ive got to the point now where im unlocking the new resource buildings, e.g Forest lodge?,not sure if i type its ame correctly, basically the wood/stone/food production building that you gain access to after legendary level 6+ At this point in game i already have level 10 production buildings in all castles, is it worth replacing these for the new buildings? How would you go around doing this?
Again i know im asking questions that are pretty much basic to most of you, but please understand ive never played this game before and im too embarrassed to ask alliance members too many questions without looking like a total idiot.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Trek001,
Firstly, welcome to the community! You're posting in the right section - hopefully you'll have some more answers beyond mine in the next few hours or so - also, if you want to, you can introduce yourself in the Player introductions section of the forums.
In terms of setting up an attack - there are lots of aspects to consider when working out how to set it up, whether it be to burn an opponent or to loot a NPC. The first thing you should know about attacking is that Ranged defenders are weak against Melee attackers and Melee defenders are weak against Ranged Attackers.
This can be taken advantage of, as you are able to use tools to negate ranged defender's power, which means you can negate ranged defender's power and attack with ranged attackers, with the melee defenders on the wall being the only defenders that can do anything you will have more chance of breaching the wall as the defence will be weak against your troops.
So, generally, tooling should be prioritised in the following order on NPCs IMO:
-Ranged Reduction (Mantlets, shield walls, etc.)
-Wall Reduction (Ladders, siege towers, belfries, etc.)
-Gate Reduction (Rams)
This is for when you are using ranged troops on the NPC, and the prioritisation only comes into place when you don't have enough space on the flank to completely negate all of the above. The gate and wall I would advise that you reduce a bit of both, and don't waste a tool slot covering the last 1% of one when you could reduce another 10% of the other!
In terms of PvP advice - you have to design your attacks to be as versatile as possible - this comes into play a lot more when you reach the higher levels (e.g. level 70+) as players are more likely to be online to switch their defense setups.
You can read more about all of these things on my website (where I took the bulk of the info from) HERE.
Hope this helps!
Angus

Well yes auto filling certainly isn't the best thing to do. To attack efficiently you must always look at the espionage report and input troops in yourself.Trek001 (GB1) said:Hello peeps, first of all i would like to say this is my first time playing this game and in terms of leveling up ive gotten far but i still dont understand certain things. Melee defenders vs Range Attackers and Range Defenders vs Melee Attackers is what you must keep in mind when manually attacking. But the best way to attack is always with Range attackers + Mantlets as it essentially makes any range troops defense 0. Check for the enemy stats such as wall, gate, moat and troop strength and also the enemy castellan. You must take all of these things into consideration when attacking.
Bloodcrows and Foreign castles have only 1 wave of defensive tools so use 1 dummy wave to take all the tools out so you can use less attacking tools.
(Basic stats without defensive tools and castellan effect are Wall and Gate: 60% Moat: 5% Ranged and Melee strength: 100%)
And yes it is worth it to replace your level 10 production buildings with the new legendary level buildings they give more production then the regular ones.

Thanks a lot guys for replying so soon, both answers were very informative and i really appreciate the help. I apologize for replying so late.
I like the site you put together Angus, must have been very time consuming for you but its very nice indeed.
Salty Sea thanks for the details on bloodcrows, also for answering my question regarding the leg~ buildings, i really appreciate it

Autofill is like a troop killing machine (no insult GGS)
My preferred method against NPCs is first wave: all ranged with shields and ladders/gate tools, second wave: all melee with ladders/gate, and third wave: melee/ranged combo. Attack the front and the weaker flank for best effect, push some of the battle into the courtyard.
