I'm level 70/77 and all of a sudden I can't get enough gold. I am hitting everything and getting gold showing in the rewards, but I seem to be spending more than I'm getting or I"m not getting what I used to/should. I used to have 1-3M gold regularly when I was doing essentially the same stuff I'm doing now, but I'm sitting on 3k gold right now after selling all my equipment. Is anyone else experiencing a dearth of gold? Am I missing something? The taxation stuff is nonsense and provides meaningless amounts of gold, but now everything is providing meaningless gold. Any thoughts?
Please answer if you have an answer but don't put nonsense and junk in the responses. Make it a meaningful answer, please.

There are several major ways your Gold can vanish in regular play (we won't even talk about upgrading your gear with the Technicus). Recruiting troops is probably the biggest, transport of goods and troops between castles and realms eats a lot, and forging gems and gear takes some more.
Your biggest sources are events and NPC castles, levelling them up can be a major support in tight times.

Golden rule DO NOT TECHNICUS if you can't afford it.
Don't recruit expensive troops cos let's be realistic, if you're not in war you do not need them.
Heavy veteran crossbowman are a game changer and do the trick for all NPC. I mean i play all events with them, fcs and bcs are no exception to that.
If you can afford it, craft recruitment cost items for barracks, you can get up to -40% cheaper recruitment. That is one of those longterm investments that will pay off probably the most of all items you ever crafted (and food ones).
Don't rely on events (samu/nomads/beris) to get coins. (Not saying don't play those events, just don't make it as a primary source of income). Rather focus on hitting towers across all the kingdoms. It might seem at first not lucrative, but as somebody who's been doing it since I started playing I assure you it will pay off greatly. It is the steady source of income.
Another advantage that attacking towers over those npc coins events has is that you actually can do it without mantlets. So if you're not ruby player, if you don't have gazillion mantlets you will struggle to get some significant amount of coins from samu or nomads.
Pick 15 towers around each castle, the closest ones, try to keep them all on the same lvl so you do 1 spy, prepare preset apply and hit. It's done in no time.
Before you know it you won't struggle with coins.
Good luck!

Thanks. I wondered if there was an overall issue with the game or if I was just unlucky for a while. Whatever was happening has moderated and the gold is growing normally again. I don't think I've changed anything. You guys provided some good tips, too. Thanks!
