        How do I go about deleting my old posts that have been answered?

No need to delete old posts.
The answers might still be useful for other readers, who always wanted to know but never dared to ask.

That's what I thought too, but GGE is always sending screen popups to delete old messages after your finished with them

I thought you were talking about the forum, or did you mean in the game?

In the game just press the delete button on the message.

In the forum, if you have a post labeled with "question", you should mark one of the given replies with "accepted answer" or something like that. That should get rid of any popups.
For normal posts in the forum I have never seen any popup.

Could you post a picture of one of these screen popups about deleting old messages? I can't remember ever having seen one.
