I started playing 4 days ago and have a lot of questions about how to play so I wanted to know is there a guide that will help newbies?

what!  Upgrading quickly how does that help me learn about this game?

actually, upgrading quickly is suicide.  The opposite is what you want to do.  Try to be an 800lb gorilla for your level.  Food and equipment are king in this game.  Everything else is transient.
