Back when I joined in 2011 I enjoyed the art style of the 2D map as other browser games look & feel the same then and now this was always in my opinion unique in that aspect with the cartoonish vibe.

For whats keeping me here is mostly the folk I've met and befriended as well as the amount I've poured into my account I don't wanna just stop playing for all those years to be a waste.

well , it's  a long and good story ,
I saw it on a website for the first time , i was just a kid, i used to download every game i see, but when i started playing it , i got lost in another world, moreover, i made some true friends and mates during this time. Whenever i used to be sad, i just clicked one button and then this game used to bring me bunch of happiness. I lost my account and stopped playing due to some family issues a while ago, but a few weeks ago , i saw a screenshot of my legendary id , i remembered all that fun and joy , so , here i am, playing it again, enjoying it again.

Hey,

The only reason I still play is because my main is running at -50k an hour. So I have to log in at least every 4 hours, otherwise my troops will starve! If I didn't have this burden I would have been long gone!

Temprance

I've made many friends over the years and enjoy working for you all :)

Hej guys, nice to hear those answers becouse interesting thing is, yea well of course we all saw some commercial and clicked, that click changed gaming world for me becouse this is the game that i play the longest time till now and still playing it. Started in 2012 at the beginning of the year, and im still here grinding. :)

What is special about the game is the unique style and concept that atracted me and made me stay (just as one player said above) but the most important part for me and what kept me interested in the game is that i meet really great people over the years, real friends, so many memories and moments together that u cant just get out of the game and leave it totally. It just connect so many people from all around the world together and it is the most important factor for me. :)

It was intriguing at first.  Now for the friends and the watching of the death spiral.

@Temprance I have an easy solution for you: Make a conscience decision to get off the treadmill.  Dismiss/starve the troops and don't build their numbers back up.  Makes the game much more of a game and far less of a job.  I highly recommend it.

I first played this game in 2012, and I got that girly prince troop if anyone remembers him.
Over the next few years, I'd play on and off, losing my account each time, then in 2015 I think I decided to play for keeps and slowly progressed to I think around level 30. Spent an eternity playing catch up. Probably around legendary 20 I really picked up steam, got 8food OPs, and really started to sink lots of time into this game. I was grinding. Grew from 100k might to 1 million over about 3 years and 500 legendary levels. I burned towers, sacked fortresses, ran trains over and over. I burned, and was burned.
But the whole while, the higher my might grew, the less happy I became. Whenever I hit a big milestone, that was pretty exciting, but it didn't last. Some time toward the end, I had to switch to mobile, and that was alright for a while. Puffin's flash theater and mouse were pretty nice, and I had the benefit of being extra mobile (no pun intended). It was...less convenient than being on computer, for obvious reasons. But I adapted, and thats where I peaked I think. It was 50% fun, 50% why am I doing this to myself.

I'm now sitting in a retirement alliance. My titles are lower than they've been in 4 years, my castles produce 10's of thousands of food more than my troops eat, and yet my might point is about where they used to be. My event scores are lower than ever. I've mostly lost contact with the friends I built my account with. I haven't run a train in months.
And for the first time in half a decade, I was ok with losing my account.

I fell in love with this game because I've always been attracted to repetitive tasks, always loved strategy, and always enjoyed castle building. When the wishing well came out, I loved it. (RIP)
Another thing I liked as scraping together fortress hunting/island capturing commanders. I was never a big fish, never got those special event commanders (until very far in), so fortresses have always been a big part of my strategy. Combing through my equipment, and frankensteining commanders together was also a fun bit of strategy.

Sorry this feels like such a downer lol

Yea good old days of GG, miss a lot of things from before, its such an irony that we today have so many things in game to explore, to do, a lot of new things etc. almost every 2-3 months something new is introduced, but today its so rushed, skipped, so pushy with all new tasks but i guess its normal bcs u cant always stay at the same point, it up to us how we choose to play the game, how much and what our goals are...

I think u need little bit motivation or just maybe u are already over it..

[5125478] Venom (AU1) [AU1] :: May 30, 2020, 9:45 a.m.
I started playing when GGS spammed those ads to everyone and their mother. I started on the AU server and played with some folk, I remember 2 of their names, Ruby2012 and Alcatraz. This was when I was a little boy too.

I enjoyed it, I enjoyed being able to see improvements in my castles that I really earned, not just spent/exploited for.

Being sht at the game is more fun than the best.

And I keep playing as it's been a massive part in my life, like what at least 8 years.
