Hi!

If i first buy the moat and the upgrade to Castle moat, shouldnt i get 51XP extra that cant be acquired any other way?

Resource moat gives 51XP
Castle moat gives 51XP

Resource moat then Castle moat = 102XP

Yes.
If i directly buy the castle moat will the moat option still be present in the build menu?

No.
So i should first buy the resource moat and then upgrade????

No. It's definitely not worth 35,000 resources for 51 XP. Send out 3 decent attacks and you should get that. Defend against 3 RBC attacks and you should get that. Get a level 6 farmhouse and you will get 4 more than that.

I get 53 XP from defending a single RBC attack, I don't think its worth it wasting 48 hours (level 3 keep) of your time building something only to get 51 XP, in fact if you start building a level 1 woodcutter, get 2 XP then you demolish it, and build another one get other 2 XP, and do it over and over again, I think you could get more than 51 XP in 2 days

Thanks i bought the Castle moat immediately thanks for the help

[1392954] MartinUser1 [None] :: Sept. 22, 2012, 9:49 a.m.
i just bought a moat and the resources i spent on it are gone and there is no moat

[1392955] xJadetsssx [None] :: Sept. 22, 2012, 9:51 a.m.
You should see it building, remember it takes 48 hours with a level 3 keep to be built

I am just trying to decide if its worth buying rubies to buy the castle moat for 20% protection, or just use resources to build the moat (level1) for 10% protection. If I build the moat (level1) can it then be upgraded and does it give 20% protection at level 2.
I can stock pile enough resources and don't mind taking the time to build it as long as an upgrade gets it to 20%.
Any advice?

you cannot increase protection of a resource moat to 20% or even "upgrade" the moat to level 2 anyway...

Thank you. That's what I needed to know.
So its either spend time and resources for the moat for 10% only no upgrades or buy the castle moat with rubies.
I wish they would make it clear whether you can or cannot upgrade a building.

If you click on the information of a building, it shows the levels it have, except with the moat because it only say
Level 1, in other buildings, for example the keep it says level 1 / 4

I think it should say when a building cannot be upgraded or needs rubies to upgrade.

It does. If a building is upgradable, you will see a green arrow above the building, when you select the building. hovering ur mouse over the green arrow, u will see its costs in order to upgrade it (resources or rubies)

Is there any update on this guys, where I make resource moat first and then I get a 50% discount on ruby moat?

No. There's no problem. In the long run, 40K or so resources don't really matter much, especially not at that level.

I think you need to be level 37 to get one, you can either get a ruby or resource moat. Later you can upgrade the resource moat to a ruby one.

[1409591] Adrguy1234 [None] :: Oct. 27, 2012, 2 a.m.
You actually need to be level 39
the resource moat costs 21,875 stone & 13,350 wood
the ruby moat costs 12,500 rubies

We're talking about moats, hence the thread name 'moat'.
