Quick question: how do you get armed citizens? I'm pretty new at this, so any help would be welcome. Thanks

The only armed citizens there is is farmers they can only be used to defend your castle but you cant use them to attack.The higher the population,the more farmers there is

Hi Lisa, welcome to the empire!! In answer to your question (I hope!!!) the citizens aren't usually armed, its the soldiers that are armed, and to get those you will need to build a barracks. Trust me, I would love to have the citizens armed, as they are a lazy lot, and only use pitchforks as their weapons, and to be honest they don't put up much of a fight!

Okay, good to know, kahlesstiberius. I saw another castle with armed citizens posted on their flanks and was curious how you get them and post them to guard duty. I have townhomes, but still no armed citizens, so I'm not clear on how you get them.

your population has to be really high and they are automatically posted.

Not nessesarly high, every amount is acceptable, but the highest pop. the highest armed citizen number!

Okay, so can I view them, or do just visitors to my castle see them? I have far more population than that, but don't see any armed citizens when I click on my defenses.

yeah bossdude is right. you get 1 for every 5 population. and you can see them if you go to defenses. but if you have more men than can be stationed on the flanks and front then all your armed citizens should be located in the keep, because the best troops you have (which clearly aren't the armed citizens) are stationed first on the flanks and front.

Ok, so 20% of your population become armed citizens. No probs. My question is if I have (for example) a total population of 1000 citizens, 200 of them will defend in event of an attack theoretically. Does the number of defending armed citizens vary on a castle by castle (or outpost by outpost) basis?

Of the 1000 citizens, 500 are in the castle, 200 in one outpost, 200 in another outpost and 0 in the third outpost. If my outpost with 0 or 200 citizen is attacked, do 0 armed or 40 armed citizens rush to defend me or is it the 200 that is 20% of my total population?

It is on a castle by castle basis.

Your castle that has 500 citizens will have 100 armed civilians. The outpost with 200 citizens will have 40 and the one with 0 population will have 0.
