Topic: [74838] Why is it so hard to get food production now?

I built a farmhouse, at my main castle, and then upgraded it to level 8. It gave me FOUR extra food production. This means that I in 4 days worth of upgrading, I can now buy two extra men? How does that work!? How am I supposed to expand my army, when it takes four days to get enough food for TWO extra men!? Every upgrade does like, 0.4 extra food production.... It's getting silly now, all my friends have bigger armys than me, And can't explain my problem. It means at the moment, with 11 level 8 farmhouses, supposed to be producing 72 each, give me 379 food production, when they are apparently supposed to be giving me almost 800.

What is the level of your Public order? in main castle only 3 farms give 100% production. The only way increasing production after building 8-10 farms is to increase Public order by building decorative items.

you are also aware of occupancy rate, yes? the more farmhouses (or quarries or woodcutters) you build the less resources they give back.

To add to what the others have posted, you'll need more decorative items to increase your Public Order, which itself increases the productivity of each of your farmhouses/woodcutters/stone quarrys.
At 100% productivity, they produce exactly as their base productivity stats should be.
At 200%, they double their base productivity stats.
Add the researches given by the research tower Three-field crop/Pitsaw/Wedging all level 5 to increase by another 20%.
Add Flour Mill/Sawmill/StoneMason level 3, and add another 30% that affects the 220% = 266%
Your productivity efficiency is SIGNIFICANTLY increased.
On top of that, you can hire Overseers with rubies to increase that 266% by 25% = 332.5%
Crazy!!!
I'm not sure if the formula is as follows, however, but it should go along these lines.

Close but not quite.
All bonuses except for the PO bonus are added together.
Mill Bonus + Crop Rotation Bonus + Veteren Bonus = Total Other Bonuses
This is multiplied by the PO Bonus.
Your total production for a farmhouse will be:
(Base * Occupancy) * PO Bonus * Total Other Bonuses = Total Production
In your example with 200% PO Bonus, 20% Crop Rotation, a level 3 Mill and an Overseer the total bonus would be
200% * ( 100% + 20% + 30% + 25% ) = 350%
Now add a Veteren Overseer in there when he's available

Thanks for the formula.
Crazy!
Veteran Overseer? Is that a new update that will come by? Or a promotion that happens every once in a while?

The veteran overseer is a special ruby thing thta give you 30% bonus instead of 25% but it costs 249 extra rubies.

Does hiring an overseer effect booth the castle and any outposts?

I would recommend getting 2 more plants then the maximum occupancy - with a decent PO, you should be able to get them producing close to, if not more than, the number it makes at 100% productivity and 100% occupancy. In your main castle, you need them for quests anyway.

Don't listen to this guy, get until occupancy is about 23%-13%.

That was just the start - that player seemed like a low level, so I suggested getting max occupancy + 2 for a start. When you get above level 45, build farmhouses until you're only getting ~30 from a level 10 one.
