personally I enjoy events such as these, apart from wars they give a nice change to the usual gameplay. of course getting set in thorn king costs a lot of resources from GE, but by the time you have beaten the second tower you should be self sufficient over there and be able to get needed resources from villages.
I am a ruby player, but I do not see a point in spending rubies on temporary events and as such have not spent a singly ruby on thorn king. instead being active and playing it with a set strategy has put me at the stage where I need to build the bridge

In my opinion Torn King should be more independent from the main game. Now it requires massive imports of everything to be even moderately functional. For any player who is not producing 2000 wood/stone per hour together with massive amounts of coins and soldiers it just takes too long to produce and import the necessary resources. The idea that we should attack villages to get these resources is both paradoxical and foolish. It would require absolutely HUGE amounts of troops, together with import costs, and would require far more resources to build the required tents and castle extension than one ever gets from the actual plundering.
The mini game should be self-sustaining, in that the import of resources and troops should be an optional boost, a way of speeding things up, rather than the only way one could possibly hope to do sh*t. (sorry about that, I just find it so.... ARGH!)
The argument that this is just another way for GGS to get rubies is only half correct. Although the event offers at every turn the option of spending hundreds of rubies, those investments don't actually help much. They give stuff like extra food or speed, but what one really needs is resources, plain and simple.

Hey Klieth,
Absolutely not! Of course the donation at the beginning is very big but since we wanted to make the game possible for almost every level, you should not send resources into the event but you should gain them in there!
So instead of sending resources, just send more troops and attack the little villages
Regards
Hannes
Well I see you have doubled the time for small RVs to recover, reduced the amount of KGs you get from the quests, increased the bridge donation price, increased troops in small RVs and I also see a new bug that makes me not able to see the number of troops my enemies had when i defeat their RVs (thorn king battle reports) it basicly just shows something like you sent 23 men, you lost 4 men, the enemy had 0 men they lost 0 men

yea this is getting harder. but i beat blade coast with little 2 no use of rubies (spent them on tools) and i beat all the towers within 1-2 weeks of it ending. thorn should b easier.
tip: just fix 1 bridge. if u want all 19 towers than just hit the tower from the back

No it's not - good grief, the whole thing can be done in part of one day....

There's a level 19 in my alliance who can't do the Thorn King event. I'm assuming that means there's a minimum level, anybody know what it is? My guess is 20 or 25.
The minimum is level 30

Agreed, only ruby buyers could make it through one day by just buying KGs from the tent and send non stopp of units and build non stopp of buildings

how bout this. dont spend a single ruby on the event and lets c how long u take. even if u stay awake for 24 hrs straight and u r in the top alliance wit KGs and ur whole alliance sends u resources i doubt u can win in part of 1 day

Good gravy - I'm 54 years old - I may not have enough time left...

Seriously, though, I think the build times for tents - to allow you enough troops to attack as fast as possible - would ensure that what you say is true.
Without using rubies to speed things up, one can still send large amounts of troops and resources, but the time required in building, and the build-one-thing-at-a-time deal, make it tortuously slow.

lol. it could take almost half the time (2 weeks) 2 complete it (all 19 towers) for a decent lvl 50

Who said this was supposed to be easy? Isn't the point of it to be a challenge. Okay I've been defeated a couple of times on a few towers but hey, I'm just shipping over more troops and I will try again. There is a whole month to do this. I finding it fun. Yes there are a lot of resources to bring over to get your tents up but I read on the forum that it requires a lot of resources and coins. I knew what it would be like before I started. I have not spent a single ruby so far, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

It points up the often huge difference between using rubies and not - with really high morale (from building the things that make it high) - you don't lose many troops at all.

The drill and the flags. I've been trying to save resources with the flags but I am going to just make a couple of the drills.

don't send resources for us non-ruby players very rough place
I know I have 4600 accumulated rubies I'll just drop down 3 or 4 field kitchens
otherwise these drill grounds would take forever to make
at 270 resource and encounter
instead of
fight twice
wait 2 hours
repeat

You are doing it wrong.
Its 400 resources per encounter. 4 times. wait. repeat.
