You should have been rewarded with 5,000 coins and 100 rubies. If you know exactly how many coins and/or rubies you had before completing the task (before the message saying you've finished it comes up) and how many you had after, and either number was the same, then it is a bug, so contact Support.

If you completed the task for the first time, you will have also completed an achievement which awards 5 achievement points. If this made you advance in an achievement level, it will mean that you earned 80 rubies as a consequence.

In other words, you probably received the reward of 5,000 coins and 100 rubies, but you also completed an achievement which caused you to get 80 rubies.

I don't understand - what part of what I said is the "second option". You got the prize for the shady character and an additional prize - how does that stink?

If you are 100% sure, contact support and tell them what happened.

you wil only receive 80 rubies in the first achievement
in second you will get 90 rubies
in third you will get 100 rubies......and the reward will go on increasing
