Topic: [75900] Confused about food production

[-75900] croindene [None] :: Aug. 14, 2012, 11:05 a.m.
I am confused on food production in my outposts.

I one outpost I have 7 level five farmhouses and a level 2 flour mill. By my calculations that should give me roughly 7 x 48 + 20% = 403. Actual screen shows 431.9 So I am happy with this.

My second outpost has 6 level five farmhouses and a level 2 flour mill. This should give me 6 x 48 + 20% = 345. Actual screen shows 260 which is way below what I thought I should get. Can you enlighten me on what the problem could be or am I missing something

There different things you need to take with your calculation.
Things such as:
< occupancy limit (how many buildings is the limit)
< amount of PO (the red/green balk above your game screen)
< level of the buildings and how many
< other buildings who have effect on the food production (mills)

See also the link where they have a calculation of the production. http://en.board.goodgamestudios.com/empire/showthread.php?27654-Understanding-resource-production&highlight=production+rate

Also, to have 6 farmhouses you would need to have a 6/2, just make sure you have :D

This is referring to the occupancy rate.

When you hover over the forest, the fields or the stone quarry just outside of your castle, you will see "100% occupancy rate for 3 plants". This means that 3 woodcutters/farmhouses/stone quarries will produce normally (of course, they are still effected by public order, flour mills/stonemasons/sawmills etc.). The next one will start off with a lower base production (75%). This means that they produce less resources than the first 3 plants. A 5th plant will produce even less resources. The exact %age can be worked out by multiplying the previous occupancy rate by 0.75 (or 75%).

This is the same for outposts, main castles in other kingdoms (level 25+) and even events like the Thorn King (if you don't know what this is, don't worry - it's for higher levels). The only difference is the occupancy rate. Outposts have either 6/2/0 (e.g. 6 food, 2 wood, 0 stone) or 8/2/0 (these outposts appear "shiny" on the map). Castles in other kingdoms have 2/1/1 (always 2 food, 1 wood and 1 stone).

So this may be a reason that the plants are not producing what you expected.
