Why do i have sword brothers and what do they do?

I was doing great and now I keep getting my butt kicked and loosing men an honor. At level 23 now.....it's getting frustrating....

Sword brothers are good because you will get additional agents (spies) or commanders either one or the second or both...

Pretty much all the info you need here (stickies and search function serve a purpose).

The only statement invalid is the whole "Sword brothers may be expected to aid each other". Have never heard nor witness any account of aid between Sword Brothers unless they're in the same Alliance.
