what should i use to attack norseman with ax? i have never seen them before.

Norsemen have the same stats as:
Defense:
N with axe: 135 melee, 45 ranged (same as Halberds)
N with bow: 51 melee, 125 ranged (same as Longbow archers)
Attack:
N with axe: 109 melee (same as Two handed swordsman)
N with bow: 92 ranged (same as Heavy crossbow)

But to answer the question, use the strongest ranged attackers you have, I suggest Heavy crossbowmen or Veteran crossbowmen

Norsemen with ax are NPC characters only available in Everwinter Glacier. They attack you, and belong to Barbarian Towers and Barbarian Fortresses.

It has a strong melee defence, so you should use a ranged attacker against it when attacking a tower/fortress. When defending, however, you should use a melee defender as it has a melee attack, and you match melee with melee in defence.

Bottom line: use crossbowmen, heavy crossbowmen or veteran crossbowmen to attack a norseman with ax.
