How do i know if a players offline or how long they were offline

Those ideas aren't foolproof, but they're all helpful.

The 2nd one is not accurate and it is not very useful in most cases

The most useful method is the SB link, since it actually varies according to activity. The alliance one merely shows when did the player last login - they may only be on for a couple mins, before leaving...
