Excluding the corner towers, do the other towers on the rear wall contribute to the defense of the castle?
We are given options to attack the front and left and right walls but not the rear wall.
We are given options to defend the front and left and right walls but not the rear wall.
No indication in the castle view is given to indicate that troops are in fact posted in the towers on the rear wall.
No stats are provided about the rear wall on either attack or defense after action reports by the system.
So, is it really advantageous to spend resources to build towers on the rear wall?
The above points are of course my opinion of what happens, and are probably incorrect.
I have searched the forum for answers but had no luck finding anything. Probably poor search skills on my part.

Although it's not realistic, the all towers, including the ones on the back wall dictate how many men can be stationed on the walls and also increase the protection level in your castle, which increases public order.

Yes, as Baldrick said they contribute to PO (public order) and how many men you can station on your walls, so all the towers are necessary. There were suggestions to make the game more realistic and add an attack from the rear, not sure if those will get implemented into the game though.

The thing is all the towers and the walls do get used as is explained in this thread. I think they just decided to leave the back off the graphic to make it look cleaner. So we already do attack from the rear, and 50% of the rear wall is included in each flank.

off topic: i think three attacking sides is sufficient .. A rear attack side will just be confusing for me

I agree, just read some people talking about a sneak attack from the rear in another thread.
