Hi deadmanwalking,

You can only get potions when the alchemist is at your castle. You will need to wait till the next event.

Basically, an alchemist tent will come to your castle randomly. Until it leaves (~2 days), you must defeat RBCs to earn ingredients for potions to increase the effects of some of your buildings.
