I'm obviously new to this, so forgive me if this is a dumb question but how do you use sword brothers once you've bought them? Not knowing any of the other players I was going to buy sword brothers but can't figure out how to use them on an attack. I know there must be something I've missed.??(

use him
to lead army to attack or
to check other players and robber baron castle...
that is "how it works"
but i never success in using any 1 of them, they just stuck in there

Sword brothers allow you to have more commanders. Commanders are required to send spies and troops out. AS you increase the level of your taverns for example you will receive more spies. If you don't have enough sword brothers (active ones) then you may not be able to use all your spies. Or you may not be able to send many attacks (you need to upgrade your encampment to increase the max number of commanders you can have) if you are low on sword brothers.
They don't actively do anything for you in terms of game alliances. You can attack a sword brother, they may be in your alliance or just a friendly player.
One trick to remember is to keep an eye on your sword brothers. If one goes inactive, trade them in for another active one unless of course by watching them become inactive you keep them so you know they aren't playing and are easy targets.
The premium packs give you extra sword brothers and eliminate the issue with commanders and inactive SBs so you can spy and attack to your hearts content.
They don't actively do anything for you in terms of game alliances. You can attack a sword brother, they may be in your alliance or just a friendly player.
One trick to remember is to keep an eye on your sword brothers. If one goes inactive, trade them in for another active one unless of course by watching them become inactive you keep them so you know they aren't playing and are easy targets.

i have 18 sword brother
Tavern level 1
Encampment 2
when i need army, it always say no commander
when i try to espionage, it is always say no agent available
any 1 point out to me
how can I assign those sword brother as agent or commander
i must miss some things that i cannot assign any 1 of that "18 poor sword brother" as agent or commanders??

When you click on the Swordbrothers tab, you'll see in the top left where it says how many commanders you can have, how many spies you can have, and how many swordbrothers you have.
Just to the right, there are two buttons where you can assign your swordbros to be spies and commanders.
Just click on those a few times and you should be good to go!

When you click on the Swordbrothers tab, you'll see in the top left where it says how many commanders you can have, how many spies you can have, and how many swordbrothers you have.
Just to the right, there are two buttons where you can assign your swordbros to be spies and commanders.

when i put mouse on it, it say i need to upgrade encampment and tavern
when i double click ( no matter how many i click), no response at all
so.. i still cannot assign sword brother as commander or agent

Yeah, because you've maxed out your commanders and spies! You need to upgrade your encampment and upgrade/build more taverns. That will give you more commanders and spies.

at the max amount, you can have 9 commanders, and 15 spies. you will need more more swordbrothers when you can upgrade your taverns and encampments to have the max amount of commanders and spies.

Well, why didn't you read the rules? That's what you do before you start posting on a forum.
I'll give you some tips that work for ANY forum:
1. Don't hijack anyone's thread
2. Don't double post (post twice in a row on the same thread) unless it's been a day or two since your last one
3. Don't ask stuff that's been said before
4. READ THE RULES
To answer your question, do a search or look in the game help. I posted a very in-depth list of ways to get rubies recently, and that should come up on a search. I believe the title of the thread I posted on was "rubins".

Now I take what you say, I had 3 commanders and 2 spies (2 taverns) with 0 swordbrothers, now I have like 10 SB's and still 3 commanders and only 2 spies, if I had 0 SBs when I upgraded my tavern and encampment It would have given me 3 more commanders, at what point do SBs become active then?
It seems we think they are helping but instead it seems like SBs dont actually do anything since we have the amount we have regardless of 1 SBs or 18!

Right, I'm going to explain once and for all what sword brothers do as simplified as I can make it:
Without sword brothers, you can get a few spies and commanders. With sword brothers, you can gain additional spies and commanders. However, you cannot go past the limit on your buildings.
3 level 3 taverns + 0 sword brothers = a couple of spies (between 1 and 3, I think)
3 level 3 taverns + 18 sword brothers = a lot of spies (15)
Without sword brothers, you can get a few spies and commanders. With sword brothers, you can gain additional spies and commanders. However, you cannot go past the limit on your buildings.

Right sorry to necro a semi dead thread, but i have read most topics on this subject and ive yet to find one that solves my problem.
Currently I have 6 sword brothers, 1 counted as inactive. I just upgraded my encampment to level 2 and insead of automatically getting new commanders, nothing happened. When I went into the sword brothers tab there was listed 3/6 for commanders and it said i needed 2 more sword brothers to get a new commander. There are no buttons to press to add the sword brothers I have to the available pool. I tried renting a sword brother and once i had rented 2 this gave me 1 extra commander automatically. But this suggests that for each 2 SBs you have you can avail of 1 more commander. Thus my question is why do 4 of the 5 I have available right now not count.
Please note my tavern is still lvl 1 so this is not affecting things.
