How the glory works?

I could be wrong, but it can also be determind by the numbers in the attacking force and the defending. Remember, if you are attacked by 1,040 troops and the attacker loses 75% of his troops and you lose, there is a good chance that you will have a 4-figure glory number. Fortunately, I have seen players from my alliance who have done 20K of glory in one battle, it is not uncommon. All I can say is this, make it as difficult as you can whether you are an attacker or defender as going in with the wrong troops will lead you to losing all your troops for very little glory.

another good tip is sometimes send defence units like spearmen if they are not going to get used

I know that armed citizens give less glory than soldiers, but I'd like to know if different kind of soldiers give different glory.

Glory Depends on the troops you kill and you save, that means if you attack a player with 2k defenders with 3k attacks.If you lose 10% and kill all 2k defenders of your enemy, then you would get a large number of glory.
Different soldiers don't give you different glory, it depends on your enemy troops and your troops if both you and your enemy have LVL5 attackers then it may vary from LVL1 VS. LVL5 because it will always be LVL5 wining, so if you win with 10% troops losing then you will get the max glory!
