Topic: [77574] Fight log displays/shows '???' instead of troop type and numbers

[-77574] raythi [None] :: Sept. 26, 2012, 2:02 a.m.
Can someone explain to me why my battle log is not showing the defending troops?

I attacked a castle and instead of the log reporting what the defending troops were it reported ‘???’ in all the flanks and courtyard.

I lost the battle but would have liked to have known what troops the defender had.

One of my members forwarded a fight log with exactly the same problem. ‘???’ instead of the defending troops. The spy report was ok and based on the report my member sent enough troops to win the battle yet he lost the fight!

Someone else has reported the same problem but that thread was closed by the moderator

Why are we now getting incomplete/incorrect fight logs with ‘???’ instead of troop type and numbers.

This problem does appear to be a bug. Can someone please confirm this?

If you lose the battle, then the "???" are supposed to be there. None of your troops survived to tell you how many defenders there were. However, there has been a bug in the past where combat reports from victories have shown question marks, that is not supposed to be the case.

The problem is that the defender must have changed their defenses (maybe troops just came back from an attack, or they re-stationed troops) since your espionage.
This is why your attacks should be sent out immediately after your espionage.
Even so, you could have the misfortune of them being online when your attack is on the way, and they could still change their defenses.

Compare the soldier numbers on the reports. If the spy report (outline) says he had 100 and the battle report says 1000, you know he received support.

when i say outline, i am talking on the first page of the report, without going in the details. at the bottom part of the report there are some numbers. at left is the # of soldiers and at right is the # of tools. both reports, espionage and battle, have those sets of numbers.

Thank you for your helpful replies. It is very much appreciated.

It would be very helpful and, I also believe, an improvement to the game if the 'fight log details' showed the defenders troop type, numbers and how many were killed even if the attacker lost the battle.

I wonder how others feel about this suggestion and if it would be worth asking support and the game dev's to include it in a future upgrade?

Feedback from othere's on this suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you

It makes the game more realistic the way it is currently set up.

Well, the overview gives the number of defenders killed as well as how many were defending. Other than that, how can you get specific types and numbers if no one survived to tell the story?
