So, I couldn't find this on the forums, are the best 3 outposts to have:
a.) 8 Food, 2 Wood; 8 Food, 2 Stone; 8 Food 2 Wood
or
b.) 8 Food, 2 Wood; 8 Food, 2 Stone; 8 Food 2 Stone
I'd like to hear some higher level player's feedback on this.
Thanks,
KnightBiff

Location is also important.

Well if you get destroyed then you will need resources to repair the castles.
so i would say that both a and b are good option, try either combination in a good location.
the difference between a and b is the stone to wood ratio, you need stone more often in buildings and wood more often in tools, and you need both, and i would say that it doesnt matter which one you take.
I think that having 3 shinies in a good location is the most important, then depending on playstyle you could choose what those 3 shines should be.

Depends where you want to go. I would have chosen two 2woods over two 2stones, because when all your castles are entirely developped, attack and defense tools (if you're not a ruby player) will use a lot more wood than stones.
If you're a ruby player, go strictly for two 2stones and one 2wood.

So I'll probably do 2 stone ones, because those have the best location!
I knew that buildings needed more stone, but I forgot all about tools.
Thanks for all the help, guys!

Yes, tools do cost a lot of wood but the overall production in fully built castles/outposts is so high that the cost of producing tools is fairly low compared to production. Whereas, the cost of construction is roughly 2.5 stone for every 1 wood at higher levels.

Option B is much better. I had one food outpost and 2 for resources. Helped me a lot till lv. 40 - 45. I abandoned the stone outpost and had 2 8food/2stone and one of 8wood with intention of getting a 8food/2wood. Worked pretty good for me till this last update of moving castles. Now i'll abandon all outposts since moved my castle 600 miles away.
