Topic: [77777] What is Martyr ??

[-77777] Conqueror9 [None] :: Sept. 30, 2012, 11:36 p.m.
I read the robber baron gudie

What is Martyr??

it stated Y... it seems to me ...it is a 1 macemen
Y1 seems lost 1 macemen

but i c ..some combination is sedning Y ( presume is 1 macemen)
but the loss is Y6...(6 macemen ? that means Y is not 1 macemen)??

or

it is something else ??

any 1 can describe /explain in more details ??

A 'Martyr' attack is a wave of soldiers used to take out the tools of the defender before you send in the heavy troops. Basically, a first wave of 3 macemen on each flank, then the other waves after it are full of Heavy Crossbowmen, Travelling Knights, etc.
Hope this helps :)

Do not work properly
I am hitting a RBC 12-4
at right flank
i send
wave 1---> 3 macemen as Martyr
wave 2---> 15 crossbowmen with 4L

aming to reduce loss to 1 crossbowmen

but i loss 3 Macemen and 3 crossbowmen
it reduce loss of crossbowmen

w/o wave 1, i lost 5 crossmen

it seems i lost more coin to recruit back the loss

do i misunderstnading Martyr ??

Are you only using one flank? That may be the problem.

I would never use martyrs on robber barons, waste of coins. Try hitting the two weakest flanks and use some tools.

Just finish hititng another rbc 12-4, can answer your reply

Yes, i am hitting RBC level 12- 4 victories to level 13
I am using the provided spreadsheet to learn this game

that is "Martyr"
I am trying to learn "Martyr" <----what is it, how to use it ??
spreadsheet say:
RBC 12-4a
expected loss: Y1/0/Y1/0
left : Y/15Z+4L
fronter : no army
right : Y/15X+4L

i send w/o Y
get loss 1Z and 5 cross.... so i believe it is Y cause the "reduced loss"

becos the expected loss in left is already 1Z
so i just Y (3 macemen) in right, i loss 3macemen with a slight reduce loss in cross

As u say, and suspect i send in 1 flank only
I just resend to another,
no both left and right has 3 macemen in wave 1
result: same but this time, i lost another 3 macemen in left flank ( which i add in wave 1)

still do not understand, how "Martyr" is send ??
i already max the tools...
using rbc to test is better becos player may response and change ...then u learn nothing
rbc will not change a lot, i can afford to change different pattern to check "what is Martyr and how it works"

aren't martyrs just to get rid of tools?

aren't martyrs just to get rid of tools?

reduce defender tools....but how to operate ??

[1396356] Sparkster [None] :: Oct. 1, 2012, 2:55 a.m.
Martyr attacks don't work on RBCs. If you lose, the castle simply resets itself to exactly how it was before the attack. The only time you use martyr attacks is when you're attacking a real player and want to get rid of his tools before your main attack hits.

It does work. if for example an rbc has 1S (1 stone) in a flank, and you want to take it out, before you send your main force, you have to use the wave function.

so on the first wave you would send 1 martyr (the cheapest soldier you can train) and on the second wave you would send ur main force

martyrs are NOT used to take out defenders. if they do, all the better for you, but it's not their purpose.

so, if you had the following rbc
10f, 1S / 30f / 10f (left: 10 farmers and 1stone / center: 30 farmers / right: 10 farmers)
you would send
Y/5z / - / 5z (left: 1st wave 1 martyr/2nd wave 5*2hs / center:0 / right: 5*2hs
losses: the 1 martyr

O...
so 1st wave
is 1 Mac/1Mac/1Mac as Martyrs
and 2nd wave
is the actual army

now..it is more clear....

Okay, yeah, I thought you were referring to launching two separate attacks on the same RBC. Yes, martyr waves will work, but not separate martyr attacks. Personally, I'm not sure using martyr waves on RBCs would be worth it, unless it's a really high level with large numbers of defenders.

no need to send martyrs in all 3 sections of the wall (it's a waste)... only where u will send ur forces at. and the common aim with rbc is to take out 2 sections of the wall and fight the rest in the yard

even at lower levels, it is worth it... gold, in small amounts, can be replaced easily, while resources are harder to come by... so why use ladders or loose 2-handers when i can send a spear

when attacking rbc, you have to check ur income , resource-wise and gold-wise....

if you make 60 in resources from the rbc attack, is it worth it to send tools? ie ladders?
or
if u make 200 in gold, is it worth it more to loose 2x2-handers or 2 spears?
so
don't use tools but martyrs

first time i ever used tools on rbc, was at level 13-2... 2 ladders for each flank, but by then i was making enough resources from the attack to justify the use of ladders

[1396545] FabulousPrannoy [None] :: Oct. 1, 2012, 6:27 p.m.
can you please explain how to send martyr wave of soldiers and the strategy behind it?

Most of the time I don't even use tools. I just send soldiers and I usually do alright. Only time I do use tools against non-player castles is against the Everwinter Glacier Barbarian towers and Burning Sands Desert Towers.

All you have to do is simply put a single cheap, weak soldier you don't mind losing in the first wave, then put your real attack in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th wave. The idea is that the defenders will use their tools on the first weak, which means the later, stronger waves won't have to worry them.

just complete checking on rbc 12-3

Martyrs does work on rbc

lost 3 macemen instead of losing some twohands, crossbowmen
