Is there a link or does anyone have the exact attack order?
For example... Samurai Swords (formerly known as Shogun):
1. The attacking army moves into the province with the castle.
2. If the attacker had to cross a waterway, the entire defending army goes first with the exception of the bonus troops granted for a castles (I guess you could call it "courtyard") defense.
3. Range attacks are made and casualties determined. If the attacker or defender has a successful enough range volley to destroy the oppositions troops before melee begins then there is no melee phase (hence the fact that the range troops are more expensive but more prized).
4. Surviving Melee troops attacks are made and casualties are determined (including the bonus troops mentioned in #2).
5. The attacker declares whether or not they wish to continue the attack for another round. If not, it ends immediately. If so, the steps are repeated.
I know that we cannot break off an attack as they are instant but does anyone have the "rhyme/reason" of how the numbers crunch?

Everything is based upon power ratios. The total attack power vs the defens total power. This incudes tools. So in order to win your total power MUST be greater that the opposition. This holds true for each battle within the battle (i.e. walls, keep). The system computes the winner by who has the most power and then calculates the losses of the winner by using the ratios. The system doesn;t take into account that ranged soldiers attack from far away so they attack first etc. I have probably shared too much already so have fun

I think the moat gators eat all melee units? Unless they can be maced very quickly... but mace wasn't invented until 1965 by Allan Lee Litman so gators always win. Stronger than fire moats. Fire on water? PUH-LEEZE!

No logic in Goodgame empire is there.
2HS defeat longbowmen badly.
10 2HS can beat 20 longbowmen(no tool bonus)
