Personnally I have 8, and I believe 10 wouldn't be too much in a war.
Over than that is overkill however.
For a Capital, I suggest 12 to 14. Those things get spied wayyy too often.

yer ive got 10 gurad houes in my main castle and its nearly impossible to spy on

How do you start a theard?
to start a threat go to forum click on the subject you want your thread to be about and click post new thread at the top left of the page and you should be able to keep going from there, just follow the instructions.
