The following advice,i experience while i complete the event
If you do not have excess food production
do not attemp to compete that event
that event require u to complete within 2-3 days
by farming rbc to collect some reblic
on completion, they will give u
80 travelling knight
80 travelling crossbowmen
each soldier eat 4 food
160X4=640 food <-- hourly demand
apart getting those travelling soldiers, u have to take the food bill too
if u cannot take that food bill
stop farming RBC until that event pass
or
try to upgrade your farmhouse as high as possible

Do Food research when you get past level 39.
I make about 2260 an hour in my main food outpost and 5899 an hour in the ice. Holding the traveling knights shouldn't be a problem and they are elite soldiers well worth the work.

Also, try hitting other towers, other than your main bunch. I usually have 3 or 4 RBC's that are higher leveled then the others. Sometimes there is a piece hiding out there. But the higher chance is with the higher leveled RBC castles.
And most importantly, watch the food consumption and make sure you can maintain it, as suggested above.

I'd suggest at least 800 food per hour in any main castle/outpost to contain the soldiers.
Relics are easy to get with RBCs past level 10.
It's a good event if you want to collect the relic pieces AND collect map pieces.
It can be it's hard to collect all the pieces, but it is only 11 pieces (8 if you are lower than level 30), but when you are half the way to finish and have at least 24 hours left, you should could make it.

i have only 1 piece remaining on the 11 piece relic... i have four plus hours... but i dont have enough food production.... i wont do it, ill wait it out - i got relic pieces attacking as low as level 2 barons too to be quiet honest *no im not a low level* idk... but getting soooo close yet not taking it cuz you dont have enough food production *640* per hour kinda sucks.... good game needs to make some changes

Well,it won't be a big problem when you are high lv.I have two food outpost which can produce 2500 per hours so it's enough to put them in there. When you are low lv. Spy a medium-strong castle before finish it( non-ruby castle). Then right when you get them, initiate the attack to get some glories and honor. I did that when I first get the travelling knights (-440 per hours since I can only produce 200 back then 
, can only hold for 3 hours !? 
). That's how I resolve my food problem.When you are higher lv, save them up

The troops do use a lot of food, but by using them to loot, a lot of food is recovered.
If you are active, they are too useful to ignore. Go for it.
