What does being sword brothers with someone mean and what benifits do u get?

Well once you upgrade your encampment you need sword brothers to get new commanders.

get more commanders and spys. can keep in contact with them not same allince and see if active or not over few days at time

Just expect to be attacked by a sword brother as time goes by - no honour being a sword brother
