I was wondering if it really is that much better. I mean, the cost double and they only give +10 melee attack (macemen example vs 2hb.) So, should you just use normal troops because I see alot of people even from good alliances just use normal troops.

Especially, is it better to use normal troops if you use them and replace the quickly (like for example attacking the fortress in everwinter and having to recruit 100 new 2hbs everyday?)

That is a descion you make, in big battles veterans make a HUGE differnce I think travelling knights are the strongest. Do you have the coins and time?

I mean, I have the time because I keep my PO high, but coins could be an issue. Would you recommend just having defense veterans for the time being, because they dont have to be replaced as fast as attacking troops?

depends on how often you get attacked. i'm sure getting defense veterans first would help you out if you are getting attacked often

Also, if you are getting attacked by veterans, and you use normal defenders you will have certain % less of useful power

I replace outdated troops by killing off the old ones on robber barons. Using only non veteran defenders, and without any tools or spying I defeated many many robber barons up to level 8 or 9. This way you make the coin costs back too.

I'm now in the position where I need to do the same in order to upgrade from veterans to King's Guards.

I always use the robber barons to do this, and I think you'll end up making a profit out of it.

what is the best way to get coins i am broke. i am building/upgrading dwelling but i still dont have many coins any tips for saving coins too

Hit NPC's, and do 10 min taxes as much as you can. 10 min taxes done 3 times gives more coins then 30 min taxes. And once your population is as high as you can get it, spend 300 rubies on 24 hour taxes. Coins are one of those things that goes up and down, I used to have 20,000+ coins, a few days later I had like 23 coins, now I have about 30,000+!

This one question turned into several. I'll try and answer all of them. Firstly, if you are constanly getting attacked recit hailbradders for these are about 4x stronger in defence than spear men and bowmen. Also having outposts really helps, you can use them as another recirtment slot or production slot. I have 2 outposts so i can recruit and prudice quickly that's not good for my coins though. Well anyway, defending is always the best with hailbreddiers. If you are attacking on the other hand, use macemen and crossbow men (But be sure to attack with 40 scalling ladders, 20 battering rams and 10 loot sacks. (Use 20 scalling ladders on the first wave and 20 on the scond wave, use 10 battering rams on the castle gate and 10 loot sacks on the castle gate to on the first wave, and ovisly use the remasnding 10 battering rams on the second wave). ). Fill all the attack slots you can btw. Then if you have trouble with collecing coins then stop recruiting or spending the coins, and send them out every 10 minutes, this is free and you make much more profit. (A tip on collecting coins is fill your outosts with dwellings and i suggest carriges to make it look in line and neat and tidy, you will find that you will make much more money this way). Don't attack in small armies, this will cost you seige tools, millitary and hounor. Don't attack someone who is active or 4-5 levels higher than you, and if need be then as a last resort move you castle somwhere else on the world map if you won't stop getting attacked. When I got attacked by 102 Twohaned-swordsmen and 103 heavy crossbow men then i flipped! He even bought some srige weponds with him! I had some support sent over from my allience, and had loads of mace-men, crossbow men, bowmen and spearmen, and the result of the battle was like 208 of my men a support died and only 33 of his men died. so bowmen and spermen are not the idel defence against twohaned-sworsmen and heavy crossbowmen, hailbredders and longbowmen are.

Yes; it's very expensive replacing an entire veteran army if you lose it, but as most players should have a high enough ranking for the reduction in costs it's not too bad, and not even that much more than regular troops, unless you're a King of course!

It's probably worth concentrating on defenders if you don't have a lot of cash, as the normal troops are still good for attackings NPCs, but I guess it also depends if you attack or get attacked more too.

So yes, if you have the cash and the time veterans are definitely worth it.

Do you even know what veteran attackers and defenders are? Since you say that halberdiers are the best defenders when they're not. Also you should never send the same tools on every attack since they should vary depending on the defensive set-up.

Yea i know, but he dosen't have baracks level5 yet, and yea I know a longbowman is the best defence. What level are you in the game then? There are people who know more than you in this game.

No, it's not. There are at least 4 units better in defense, 2 ranged and 2 melee.

I'm lv50 and yes, there are people that know more than me about this game. But I know more than enough to know what this thread is about and be able to provide a comment that answers his question.
