?(i just built the research tower i was wondering id anyone could advise me on what to research first and which ones are better?(

If you have some wood/stone outposts, you should research "Wheel tires", and you can use these to transport more resources for researching, and you can also unlock the "Pitsaw" and "Wedging" and "Three-crop-field rotation"
If you want to go straight to the veteran units and have a lot of resources left research "Maneuver", this way you'll also "upgrade" many researches.
Research "Forced march" if you have food outposts or use "station" often.
Research "Levies" as you progress and feel it's time to research something.
I do not suggest to research "Chivalry" or "Barrow" as they are kinda useless.
Do not go for the "12 hours tax collecting only costs coins" unless you are a ruby player, because it costs 14000 rubies to research

The "Forced march" only increases the "station" speed
If you want to increase speed of the soldiers, then it's "Elite training" that increases the travel speed for your veteran units with 20% ^^
