Topic: [78878] Why So Serious? (Resource Villages in Everwinter Glacier)

So let me get this straight... In Everwinter Glacier:
- Main castle resources fields are either small or very small. So unless you are shipping over massive resources from the Great Kingdom every day (which would of course slow down your progress there), without resource villages, you'll be progressing very slowly.
- There's no limit to how many resource villages you can hold, which means a) The loss of one isn't a big deal, proportionally speaking, if you have many and b) By the time you reach Everwinter and settle into your main castle there, pretty much all of the resource villages will already be occupied.
- Unlike outposts in the Great Kingdom, resource villages in Everwinter don't need to be built up. They produce at full capacity immediately and automatically, sending them directly to your main castle. So if you lose a village and take it back, you carry on right where you left off.
- Resource villages have nothing to burn. So no need to waste time and resources repairing buildings in them.
Honestly, if I were a game developer, and I wanted to design a system to break away from the ossified alliance system (where pvp is very serious and players are strongly discouraged from whimsically attacking each other because it might set off a big alliance war) and encourage a little bit of nice, chaotic, anarchic fun, I don't think I could have done any better than what I just typed above. The incentive to seize resource villages is acute and obvious, while the loss to the player who is attacked is about as minimal as it could be, and can be reversed by simply taking it back. Indeed, I often see players "guarding" their villages with only 1 soldier. This is exactly the sort of system, I would think, that would encourage players to spar over resource villages: Taking, losing, and taking them back multiple times a day, only to joke about it over private messages at the end of the day.
So... Why do many players take so seriously something that almost seems like it was specifically designed not to be taken seriously?

you can only have 5 of each resource villiage. that means you can only have 15 resource villages in everwinter. and they are so hard to find. that might be why people take losing them so seriously

The main problem at the moment is to do with food villages. Players who had more than 5 (and still do) before the update have a lot to lose by someone taking one of them as with the new rules they will not be able to take it back again. This will result in a severe, permanent drop in food production and will lower the number of troops that player can sustain in that kingdom. So it's quite a big deal.
As far as stone and wood RVs go, the loss isn't as bad as troops are not affected, but the drop in production can also be severe.
So the loss is really only to do with loss of production and being unable to retake those villages.
If a player has 5 or less of each type then the implications are less severe as they can either take that village back or obtain a new one.

player is only allowed to have
5 food resource village
5 wood resource village
5 stone resoure village
There a tons of food village floating around the map for player to take
do not know why ..player do not take it
it is not hard to take resource village
just send army there, take as much as u can
if u cannot afford to feed them, just send them back to Great Empire
it seems it is stupid to send army back..but sending food to there to feed them is more stupid
as the 1st goal
cap 5 food resource village asap
if u can feed army, leave them there..if not, go back to Great Empire
b4 u send army back
there is 1 event to complete the map
this give u tons of norsemen with bow and axe
so try to hit level 20 barbarian tower as many as possible
do not afriad of the loss, because it will reduce your food problem in there
when u complete the map, that is the army u have to leave behind for remaining resource village
it seems wood and stone resource village are hard to find
but when it appears, tons of wood and stone village are there
hurry up, becos other player a also looking for it too
so wheneveru login, u need to check whether there is new wood and stone resource villages
if found, hurry up
if not, just periodly checking
norsemen with axe and bow are travel 30-40% faster than 2hands and heavy ...
u just send 60% of them, it is sufficient to cap any resource village
my experience:
i cap my 5 food resource village very fast as they just sit nearby me for a few days.no one want them. I let them sit there for a few days becos i do not know "what to do in Everwinter glacier"....
1 days i find tons of wood and stone resource villages, they a 40-60 distance away
i stop hittng barabarian tower...
sending a barbarian-tower-hitting-army to try to cap wood resource village
i hate horsemen as they eat and do nothing
so i send them to hit another stone resource village
both team win
but i was surprise to know..norsemen cap faster and return faster
so the remaining resource village ....80% of it.... i use norsemen to cap...
anyway, up to now
i still has 80% of norsemen with axe and bow , i have to feed them
but i still do not know "how to use them" < only use them to cap resource village, thereafter, no use [ except defend ice-castle] >
but
resource village a very useful in there
now
Everwinter Glacier is working independing ...i juust hit Barbarian Fortress and 1 barbarian tower ..it is sufficent to feed tons of army in there
