If you have only ranged defenders on the wall and if your attacker has sufficient shields to bring the ranged defence down to zero, then all defenders have a combined power of 0, which is defeated by even a single attacker.

Best defence is 100% melee against that many waves and use Quick limes to boost strength - ranged defenders are becomong obsolescent due to new tools and multiple waves !
