Espionage showed significantly less troops than were there during attack. Player contacted me thinking he should have lost the battle stating he does not have these troops.

Wouldn't that be a lot of citizens then? Aren't farmers like 20% of castle population?

I had assumed he had just gotten some alliance support but I guess not. The espionage said 139 troops and 64 farmers whereas the battle report said 674 total. No way 139+64 is anywhere close to 674

which is why i included the message from the defender. it was he who brought it up to me that he doesnt have these troops...

Hi Sir Ken,
I don't think its a bug or anything, support from alliance is the most likely reason. The defender might not have even realised that support was sent if he wasnt logged in at the time and it wouldn't show up on the spy reports if it was sent after the spy returned.
