Topic: [347702] What do you want changed (Politics)

[-347702] Venom (ASIA1) [ASIA1] :: Feb. 10, 2018, 9:05 a.m.
So after watching some posts about politics, I was wondering what people want changed/improved in your country/city etc?

My personal opinion is one of our states in Australia is spending 800 million on solar power for 50,000 people. Issue for this is, they are spending 4 times the amount needed for what you get at 16,000AUD per house. When I saw an ad on TV for 4,400AUD for more panels...

Please also note this isn't a thread over argument just opinions, keep it clean too.

I want the plan to build a wall on the U.S and Mexican border to change. Truth is that for such an expensive project for the U.S government this could also be an unrealistic goal that may never happen especially on the Texas and Mexican border and also unrealistic to expect Mexico to spend money on building a wall instead of us as well. Important to keep in mind that government money technically speaking is also our money from our taxpayer dollars. To add on top of that their has also been according to recent statistics a decline in the number of arrests on the border which might be an indicator of a decline in illegal immigration as well combined with an increase of arrests of illegals living in the United States as well.

True that some illegals may cross the border illegally even with the fencing, but at least it could also discourage some people from crossing over illegally without the need for a wall which would be a lot more expensive than just simply having a fence that is a lot cheaper than building a wall. Also, not all illegals can get away with crossing the border illegally either. Their are also at least some people who will get caught crossing the border and arrested by the security patrol as well.

I want Donald Trump to go to war with the rest of North America starting with Canada. Like what ever happened to Mainfest destiny and the U.S. planning to take over the continet. We even made a whole file called document red I think made in 1920 about taking over Canada stealing key military points and crippling their defenses in a day with few civilian causalitys. Most of central America would just give up if the US declared.

I don't think any politician—including Trump—was ever seriously considering building the so-called "border wall". That was just something that he said to get support for his campaigns.

Maybe. Donald Trump never said the United States was going to build a wall in his earliest campaigns for Presidency, however. If I remember correctly it was Mexico who he originally wanted to build a wall, but the chances of that ever happening of Mexico agreeing to build a wall on their border are highly unlikely regardless of whether Donald Trump was seriously considering it or not of building a wall. Now Donald Trump might have also lied in some of his speeches while running for president as well, but regardless I would hope that the wall never gets built. Not to mention that we also have a huge border between the United States and Mexico.

I agree; hope the wall never gets built (and I think the chances of a wall being built are astronomically low).

I don't think there's an objective difference between the US building the wall and Mexico building the wall. It depends on what factors you are looking at and consider evidence for the construction of the wall.

When it comes down to it, the only people who are truly building the wall are the people who are physically there constructing it, but that's not how we think of it—so I don't see much difference, in this case, between Mexico building the wall and the US building the wall.

I think what you mean is that because the Mexican government would (in this hypothetical situation in which Trump's alleged plan is executed) be funding the border wall, they are building it. I look at it from a different standpoint—the US government is the party that advocates for the construction of the wall (again, in this hypothetical situation) and they may supply workers and other resources to contribute to its construction. It would, in my view, be more like the Mexican government building the wall for the US rather than the Mexican government building the wall.

I don't think I'm doing a great job of explaining; so be it.

To be honest, I don't think it's ever a great idea to share political views on an online forum—that's a recipe for disaster. Not going to continue to post on this thread.

Theoretically, if we were to build the wall what would we call it? I think it would be something like the great wall of China but, instead of being built to keep the Mongolians out it would be built to keep the Mexicans out. Gives me chills thinking about it.
