What with all the new stories, I've decided to start my own. Hopefully the first part of this story will be ready later today (I'm not givings hints about it's plot , but I will say that there will be plenty of magic:D).

Part 1:
I stepped through the back door to my house, the well oiled hinges moving soundlessly and effortlessly. Behind my house, there was about a hundred feet of rocks, sand, and desert-like plants. Beyond that, was a five hundred foot tall sheer cliff with a river at its base. I knew the side of the cliff had several massive cave entrances that led to a network of caves and catacombs.
I walked to the edge of the cliff and closed my eyes. After a couple of minutes of concentration, I opened my eyes again. But what I saw was not what any normal person would see. It was like the view had somehow had its colors changed and now it glowed with blues and reds and greens and yellows. It was the energy world, and the colors showed how much power and energy was concealed under the colors of the natural wold as most people know it.
I felt the touch of a familiar mind, the owner of it detecting my entry to the energy world. the feeling was a little strange, because it was like there was a thing that seems to rub against your mind, but your physical body feels nothing aside from the physical objects you are touching. I connected with the mind and silently thought to it, The preparations are done. We have spent much time without each other and now we must renew our bonds with each other. Come on up here. A deeper voice, raspy from lack of use thought to me, We must go. I will come. The mind left my mental presence.
I quickly exited the energy world and moved very far back from the cliff. Then, erupting to above the height of the cliff, was a 40 foot long shining, glittering-in-the-sun red dragon named Orion.
I pulled out a tool, a foot long strip of metal with a handle, and inserted it into a crack in the rock next to me. I pulled the handle up and the fake piece of rock covering up the hole fell to the ground. I bent down to get in and retrieve the supplies I had placed there a few days ago. Once those were on Orion's back, I climbed up and sat on an old saddle made long ago. Orion ran (do dragons run?) at the cliff, and when he got close, he jumped up and flapped his large wings. As soon as they were airborne, I somehow was in my armor: a copper Corinthian helm, iron cuirass, iron-over-chain mail gauntlets, and iron bracers (basically armor boots). Twin swords were sheathed at my sides. Each one had a snake head on the crossguard, with a green emerald in the mouth and two red rubies for eyes.
As I looked back at my house, which was fading in the distance, I remembers a night twelve years ago. I will take their life from them as they took it from Mike. And how they took it from me.........
Did you like it? Should I write more?

Part 2:
I flew on Orion for four days over the plains. Each night we landed and set up a fire (Orion did not create it.....that probably would have set more stuff on fire than we wanted) and a tent for me. After Orion hunted, we talked for a while till we eventually fell asleep. The next morning we would eat whatever Orion brought down the previous evening and move on.
On the fifth day, I realized we were nearing a forest. And when I say forest, I mean BIG forest. We were pretty high off the ground, with a good viewpoint, and I didn't see any sign of it ending.
I slowly entered the energy world, the shapes of many, many, many trees coming into focus. I ignored the shapes of purple bushes and trees and other low energy plants. I focused my vision on the animals, and the yellowy forms of every animal imaginable that lives in a forest seemed to burn through the plants as if I had called them to the forefront, which I had, in a way.
The animals looked normal enough, but I guessed they had some sort of trick up their sleeves or something. The forest looked downright creepy. I called it a day before we got too close. Attempting to cross some of it and camp inside it before tommorrow didn't sound very appetizing. I knew from our link that Orion agreed with me. This forest could only be a forest of evil.
The next day, we got up as usual, but Orion decided to fly even higher than usual. Ideally if we had to camp in the forest, it would be on a hill or mesa.
We had been flyiing steadily for a couple hours before the first in a series of terrifying things happened. We were following a small trail, though from here it was more of a line that had less dense tree cover. I heard a vaguely human voice go, "HEEYAH!" but it sounded like one of those steriotypical witch-before-they-cackle-evilly type human voices. There was some rustling in the trees and then several dozen things came out, now flying above the tree line. They looked like humans, which explained the voice, but they had large wings on their backs. They kept pouring into the sky, dozens and then hundreds, all screaming their warbled cry of anger. That was when I first truly realized the fury of "Mother" Nature, her ferocity and veangence.
Orion knew very well that we could not win against these harpies. We could fight many off, but they would eventually overwhelm us and anyway, who knew how many more of them were nesting down there? He tucked his wing in and went into a nosedive, heading straight toward what we thought was a path. The wind and oncoming branches made me duck low and hold on tight. The warmth in Orion's scales was heartening. We burst through the treeline in about 2 seconds and Orion opened his wings, dug his claws in, and made a rough landing. We were lost in a massive forest, trapped under a sky filled with harpies and who-knows-whats ahead.
What do you think? Please tell me because I am a kid and I want to write when I grow up, but I'd like to know if I can write OK now.
