How do I leave an alliance

Open the alliance window, and on the left, click on the management icon (it looks like a silver circle with 1 person branching off into 3 people), and then click on the broken handshake in the middle of the alliance window to leave your alliance.

If you are the only person in the alliance, and you leave it, the alliance will be disbanded, and will no longer exist.
