Obviously, I am a bit bias but the best alliance I have been in was the Plumpy21 Fanclub.

I would suggest a aliance shell called the last order

I wouldn't suggest The Last Order, terribly inactive.

I would suggest Rising Banished, Fearless REBIRTH, Knights of RB, T.U.F. Titans, and more if you pm me.

This depends on your gaming style do you prefer  PVP, EVENT, or a Mix of both.  Most of the top 100 alliances are decent to be in some vary by leadership, rules, loot quotas.  If it was me and I was choosing here is like 10 active alliances I would try.

The Misc
Sword of truth

T.U.F Titans
Grumpy Warriors
the ninja pack

These are not rankings either just an informal list of Alliances with active shells IMHO

Has EG gotten better than it used to be?

Back when I was in it... they're nice people, but I wouldn't have called it a good/strong alliance.
