This is most likely answered elsewhere but I could not find it.
Which troops carry the most loot?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Usually melee attackers carry more than ranged.
The best looters are Marauders, which carry 70 per unit.
However i think i saw that the Blade Coast troops carried 90 per unit? I could be wrong.

Is there an actual limit on the amount of resources you can loot?
I sent a first attack with a few troops to kill the peasants and then 72 marauders and a +41% loot bonus commander. I got about 11,000 resources.
My second attack I sent the troops to kill off the peasants, then 108 marauders with 60 loot tools and the +41% loot commander. I got 11,000 resources again.
????????

The most loot you can hold is 320,000 in ice, sand and fire(-1500 for keep), there is a blade coast or thorn king troop that can carry 90 loot, a nomad tool (transport yak) that increases lootin capacity by 40% and I don't know if they are stackable, 80% loot commander and loot bonus during war of up to 200%.
1280x90=115,200 add the transport yak 40% =161,280 add the loot bonus during war 200% =322,560 loot from one attack.
It may be and probably is calculated differently to how I have calculated it, but I have seen an attack report with 118,000 loot.

Attacks on players are limited to whatever they have in their storehouse, while RBC's have a set amount of resources in them, that you can't get more than, except by using a looting bonus, regardless of the carrying capacity of your troops.

In my second attack I did an economic espionage, he had 42,000 stone, I set the loot focus to stone and I still only got 11,000.

Not entirely.
When at war with someone, you can easily bring back well over 100k of one resource if you focus on plundering that resource, but that is the only time it's possible to do so.

you can only get 25%, +40% with the research
(72275-4800)*0.25*1.4 = 23616
my commander have + 61%
23616 * 1.61 = 38022
i took a little more, he still produce until i get there

No, he just said "the troops which u can recruit heavycrosbowman and maceman have maximum looting capacity 32 each". He didn't say the best looting troops you can recruit. He just said to answer the question, the best looters are the troops which you can recruit, heavy crossbowman and maceman which have a maximum looting capacity of 32.

I have done a lot of research and experimenting regarding loot amounts and loot focus and although GGS deny there is any problem with the resource looting focus (look at Baldricks bug thread), I have deduced there certainly is some varying results when loot focus is used and it depends on the level of the player you are looting from.
I looted a castle with 80k of each resource with wood focus and about 40k wood, 1.5k stone and 1.5k food came back, I spied before and after the attack hit and there was plenty of wood left in the castle with no castellian equipment and no store houses.

I have gotten similar results.
But i have also gotten times when i looted about 30somethingK of one resource from a castle.
I think that after you hit about 40k, your troops begin to take different resources.

there was 81k, 76200 could be loot, and i took 33 246
.119 + .20 - .0eight (stupid smiley) = .239 (commander bonus + looter - castellan)
33246 / 1.239 = 26832 (loot without bonus)
26832 / 1.4 = 19165 (research)
19165 / 76 200 = 0.251

I have never seen a post by a GGS mod that you could only loot 25% of a castles resources under normal circumstances and I have never considered it.
Thanks.
ps. maybe GGS could supply us with information like this instead of just saying therre was not enough loot in the castle when there clearly is, just not availiable to loot.
