Topic: [294939] Do separate waves hit at the same time or one by one?

Say, you put 100 travelling knights into the first wave and 100 travelling crossbowmen in the second wave. Do they hit one by one (after the travelling knights have finished fighting, the second wave hits) or do they all fight at the same time?

Then why do players sometimes reduce their target's moat defence in the second wave?

To deal with different types of set ups- e.g Full ranged with Wall+moat tools is good against melee and lime bomb setups
You should always count on your opponent being on and setting his defence

tools are also only effective for the wave that they are sent in. you have to choose, wall, range, or moat; choose 2

they just do it to either burn up melee troops or to prevent the defender from successfully changing to all ranged with arrow slits.
