Well, it has been a few weeks since I restarted this game and I must admit, I really am enjoying myself at the moment. I am in a very good alliance and I still keep contact with some of the older players that I knew back in the good ol days.
Now, unless I am very much mistaken, I am sure that there are quite a few alliances (doesn't necessarily have to be UK1) in this game that instruct their players to gain honour. I am sure that most new players think that if they hit a foreign castle, they will bag lots of glory simply because of the hundreds of banners they placed in the tools sections.
However, this is not the case. The only way players can profit from a decent glory hit in the aforementioned events, they would have to evolve the amount of glory from 0% to around a relatively decent 25%-30%. Of course, there are many drawbacks to this in that you would be the obvious target (especially if you are too far to be supported) and there are many positives (many top drawer alliances welcome players who are aggressive i.e. in that these sort of players are good for the tournaments.
I will use myself as an example. I am at 1,009 honour at the moment, that could go up or down at any given moment. Therefore, each glory hit against another player/foreign castle or bloodcrow is worth a measily 19% more glory. So, if my maths are correct, at a level below 70, if you get 4,000 glory points, with the 19%, this will bring it upto 4,760. It is not enough to really make a difference however, if you ever hit a target and you gain 100k of glory, the 19k of glory makes a difference between ranks and the special troops you could have.
There are other ways of getting your glory up with special unique pieces amongst other things, but if we are talking barebones, then the ideal way would be to get your honour up. The only way that this can be done is if PvP is encouraged in the alliance. I am sure that @fujiwara (GB1) would welcome this idea. Further to that, if you take a look at @Mikeshot2 honour, you will know partly the reason as to why he is "Invincible."
Anyway, in short, I think if you want any shot of getting higher up in the foreign or bloodcrow events, then it is of my opinion that you should encourage your players to do some PvP. If they win, they get honour, and the more honour, the more glory points against the foreign invaders/bloodcrows when they come around.
Many thanks for your time and happy hitting everyone!!!

Yes honour gives you a glory boost, but really is negligible when compared to what horsetails give, and its even less than you would think as the boost is worked out from base glory, not total, so the extra 19k you mentioned in your example isn't accurate, because that 100k would be total, not base.
Most of the success you have in the glory events comes from how many big castles you get and that in turn is based on how many hits you send out.
It isn't worth having high honour apart from making yourself feel good compared to others, if you want to make PvP relevant then you have to let the air-heads at GGS know.

You say that it is "negligible", but imagine you had a 40% base glory bonus (as indicated on your shield when you want to attack) and then you add horsetails to the equation, that 21% does make a difference I believe. This is originally a war game, or was, because back in 2012, there were very few, if any events at all. For example, there was an alliance tournament based on glory and that glory was only won if you beat another player. However, to reach a certain rank (King was the highest at that particular time) it was very difficult and only a select few were able to get it. I believe at that time, mayoman1 was the lowest ever ranked King (level 38) when he achieved it and it was through doing PvP and therefore it was harder to get the glory points since 10k of glory in those days was difficult.
As for the developers at GGS, I don't think it is really up to them. They develop these events just so that we don't get bored in between wars. So, they bombard us with special offers every 5 minutes (remember the bloodcrows event or the nomads, one of the two anyway) and try to encourage us to buy. When you take the guys like @fujiwara (GB1), they are right that the game now has changed to a more of an event based game and it really is a shame. I enjoy it, but I know (and my alliance knows too) that I will do events if I feel like it although storm and beri have never and will never be a priority in my book. They are not important for someone like me. Anyway, thanks for your input and thanks for the maths correction, it is greatly appreciated. Have a nice day Mikes.

My two biggest complaints with the Blood Crows and Foreign Invaders are:
- Over the couple of years two things have changed that make getting a good amount of glory really hard to do. First, they decided that for the Level 70 players, the Castles would never advance past level 70, which means we wouldn't get better castles after beating one. Now, all of a sudden, like this time, I get 10 castles and I get maybe 2-3 that are over 900 troops. The remainder of the 10 castles have 600 or less troops in them. You get nothing as far as glory from them.
- In the current event The Emerald Trial, they never shift any of the rewards, especially the armor set around, and to get the best of the pieces, you have to go to the end of rewards in the Blood Crows ( and FIs) event, which requires you to gain 10,000,000 in glory points. Yes, it is not a typo, it is 10,000,000 glory points for individual players. With the lousy castles we are getting, how are we supposed to get to the end for the whole set.
