Hello, I am an Empire player from some time ago and I recently returned to the game and all the new things added since I was gone are causing me some issues.
My current biggest issue is trying to recalculate optimized food production. I currently have totally arbitrary amounts of granaries in my castles and that brings me to my question. How many granaries should I have in order to really optimize my food production? and at what point should I start using food production build items instead of base food production?

The video has very bad and weak sound so the explanation is more or less worthless.
it makes also no sense in the reply to the question to bring up all kind of PO and bonus rates.
the question is very simple, how many granaries to build and what type of production build items or as the are also called construction items should I use.
The answer is rather simple of both type of construction item you may use 15 in a castle/outpost total 30 construction item.
We can build 2 relic greenhouse in every castle which produce without build item more than a granary with the currently maximum level 15 base construction item although that statement may go invalid with the new level 20 base food construction item available in the samurai shop.
so when you assume the greenhouse take also a construction item then 28 are left for granary.

when you calculate base production + construction item bonus and base production + base construction item bonus and apply the workload to the highest production totals you will find that below 23% workload a base construction item gives less total production than a normal construction item.

when you realize that from 25 to 30 granery the workload will be 0% an only have use as a place holder for a construction item and it makes no sense to level those last 5, they can even be just a farmhouse and with a level 10 construction item produce 200 food/hour before all bonus from other sources.

It mentions po etc. to see exactly when it no longer becomes worth it to use base food production build items since it is based on all those factors, which is why 30 is not the one for all awnser but it differes depending on po etc.

as a rule of thumb yes, later in the game when all buildings and PO are getting to the max, some fine tuning may be needed.Baboom1 (US1) said:So I should build 100% + 5 for base food production then another 15 for food production build items?
like demolish 2 granary when ornaments will improve PO more than the two granary will give.
If you really want to optimize you build a spreadsheet so you can try out what changes will do
