Seems like the main strategy of the game now is how much to spend on the game, and which events to spend on. With multiple events going at the same time it's a tough decision, so might as well buy boosts for all of them. Remember the days when we didn't have to buy our progress in this game? And every new event, feature and update is designed solely to cost us more and more. Cudos to those that can justify the expense.
Also, I don't know why we have to go through additional efforts to try to find, or buy, a decent target in the glory events. I get enough failed spies on the first run through them. Total waste of time, especially when you're trying to take part in the other events at the same time.
If anyone has strategic suggestions for those of us on a limited, or sensible and responsible budget, please let me know.

There is no some extra special secret strategy in this time when game is speeding up more and more with all new things around, just u need to decide what to focus most, which event u will play really hard and which will pass easy, of course depending what u need exactly, without money its impossible to play all event that good being in top places, thats a fact and we all know that. So for example now when we have crows and berimond, not counting horizon btw... I constantly when im online hit forts for rubies everywhere and mark ones that are going to refresh soon. Thats how i get rubies for upgrading crows, not all of them of course but the ones worth upgrading, i decide to hit crows for example this morning and hitting beri just btw relaxed, then later after a break i decide to hit beri camps hard focusing that 2-3 hours and thats it, then sometimes i mame some purchase of course when i want to but not that much and not that often really, just to reward myself and boost little it event which i want to and need rewards. 
Btw. if not money then u need lot of times to make everything top ranks, and without money and that much time then u need to play smart and invest smart literally watching every penny so u get the most and give less.
For example the most profitable investment for me personally is nomads, becouse u kill two flys with one hit, u do nomads good, earn tablets, get points and top ranks from nomads and u can get a lot of points on monthly event too with hitting them, changing tabets, and after all u can buy lot of banners for 2 more events, crows/foreigns so basically u are prepared for 2 more events, u dnt need booster for them, u have own like banners etc. Thats my strategy.

I hold 2.6mil MP comfortably and my account is like a month old and I haven't entered FP.
I'm now a top 250 player on the US server. The countless hours put in by some players was just ruined by a few hundred dollars. A week paycheck, a dirt cheap holiday, whatever you want to compare it to. 3mil, 4mil might aren't too far off either.
Like what kind of game favours buying that much? There is no long term plan for this game, it's just drain money from the player base and pray it works out well. It's stupid and I actually hope the company shuts down and our money goes to good companies that aren't just snaking money.

Thanks, and the kind of money they're looking for in this game, I'd use it in the casino where there's a chance of getting some back. Plus the sights and sounds are better. Darn,have to wait for the stay home order to be lifted, so will let gge take full advantage of a more captive situation a while longer.

You don't have to spend to be good at this game but spending will give you the rewards. I barely spend on this game and I am still able to hold a position in the top alliances.
The best thing to do is, hit your towers for rubies, then focus on 1 event at a time, until you have figured out the best ways to rank up in it fast. You don't need to participate in every outers event, every blade coast, and every beyond the horizon event. Stick to what you're good at and progress from there. Remember to always ask questions.

I've been a free player for years. All it takes is planning and patience. Don't try to do everything. Pick and choose. Support your alliance when you can. Over time it adds up.

I agree with you.
good game studios are "inventing" in new ways for people to spend more rubies.
Nowadays the gap between payers with "Strategy" and "$trategy" is getting bigger.
