- To MAX or NOT to MAX... That is the Question...
In my first attacks I maxed the number of troops sent since this was essentially taught during the tutorial phase at the start. Later I realized more troops sent = more gold spent (of course they probably need more beer during R&R
). Hence in succeeding attacks (against robber baron castles) I kept troop count to a minimum just enough to beat (mostly zero loss) the RBCs. For example level 1 RBCs only have 1 defender so I only send 2 to attack.
However I read from the forum that more troops sent means more loot retrieved.
So my question now is to MAX or NOT? - About LADDERS
- How do you decide how many ladders to bring? Any computation or advice to make things frugal?

- All ladders are used/consumed during attack right? {why don't they reuse? good for the environment... hehe...
} - At the gate... for early levels when you only have to choose 1 tool: RAM or CLIMB?
- How do you decide how many ladders to bring? Any computation or advice to make things frugal?

More amount of soldiers you send, less casualties you will have in general, why?, because is not the same fighting 100 defenders with 50 attackers than 100 defenders with 300 attackers, as you have more attack power, you will have less casualties, as well of getting more loot (resources), the amount of coins you earn from RBC's attacks doesn't matter for the amount of soldiers that survive, I will always target send the max I can
Ladders, you will have to use 2 for each level of the walls to counter the wall bonus only
Level 1 walls, 2 ladders (-20%)
Level 2 walls, 4 ladders (-40%)
Level 3 walls, 6 ladders (-60%)
Level 4 walls, 8 ladders (-80%)
+Tools: stone throwing +25% of power for the defender, use 3 ladders to counter the bonus entirely
tar pitch kettle, +40% of power for the defender, use 4 ladders to counter the bonus, sometimes (almost always) you will not counter the bonus entirely, in fact a player with all 3 slots full of tar pitch and the level 4 walls will have a modest +200%, you can use 20 ladders, but you will not counter the moat bonus
, also when you can only use one type of tools in the middle, you should counter the bonus who grant more to the defender, if he have +55% of bonus for the gate, and +20% of wall, it is more wise to counter the gate bonus with rams

Attack Economics: Troop Cost vs Loot Retrieved
Ok I did a little experiment to test this out... hehe...
Probably useful for newbies trying to build up their castles during protection phase.
I sent out 3 troops attacking 3 different Level 1 Robber Baron Castles (which always have 1 farmer as defender) with a sure zero loss. Here are the statistics:

******* LOOT *******
Troop Cost Wood Stone Food Gold
2 4 7 9 29 28
3 6 13 16 47 28
5 10 20 17 53 28

NOTE: The amount of gold did not increase with the number of troops sent. Sounds logical as the commander himself may be enough to pocket the gold
CONCLUSION: If you have lots of gold but need to improve ASAP on your other resources like wood, stone, and food send more troops than necessary to defeat the enemy in order to bring back a larger amount of loot.

Haha... yep... 'just had more time lately and played around with it... Peace!
It's just that in the beginning levels I stuck to the formula for minimum needed attackers:
RBC lvl 1 : Send 2 attackers
RBC lvl 2 : Send 5 attackers
RBC lvl 3 : Send 8 attackers
etc... etc...
This is because in the beginning levels I wanted to conserve gold spending not knowing spending a few more gold (+2 or more) for "unnecessary attack force" could speed up accumulation of other resources.
So now I'll revise my tables and increase attackers just to increase the loot.
Thanks for the tips.

yes sure
there is a max you can loot also, for example
let's say RBC "X" have a cap of 250 food 50 wood and 50 stone you can loot, even if you send 2000 soldiers you will only get the max

This works with just about any NPC. For instance, in The Thorn King, the maximum loot you can get with a small resource village is 200 wood, 200 stone and 800 food. I'm sure there's a limit with Barbarian Towers, Desert Fortresses etc.

I said RBC "X" as an example, but that happens in every NPC

Sorry "newbie" here... What is NPC again?
Re: Looting
I wanted to get max loot so I sent economic espionage and got the following:
Wood=2,309 Stone=1,907 Food=2,504
I sent MAX number of Macemen (45) plus MAX number of loot sacks (30).
Only 1 Maceman perished so I calculated:
# x rate%
Maceman (44) x 32 = 1408
Loot Sack (30) x 15 = 450
1858 / 3 = 619.33 each wood stone food
Actual = 425 each wood stone food
I reviewed several loots and the Total/3 split for wood/stone/food has been almost consistent. I looked at the castle and there are no Hideouts to protect resource. So I don't know why I only got 425 instead of the calculated 619. Probably loot sacks got holes???
Has anybody taken an interest in loot accounting?
Thanks in advance for the answer.

N(on)P(layer)C(haracter) stands for anything that players cannot control, the characters that gives you quests, the RBC, the Fortresses, etc, by the way remember the keep have safe camp of 750 if is level 1 or 1000 between level 2 and 4

What do you mean safe camp? As in un-lootable amount of resource?

Only the safe camp from a keep actually adds to the storage.

But it have the same function as the Hideout, except for adding storage "capacity"

Ahhh ok... So that's what the 2 squares in The Keep Level 2 is all about... I wasthinking if I can drag and drop some defense tools there too...
Thanks

No, only dummie archers, spearmen or bowmen

You can't drop normal tools there because the bonus on the keep is based on who wins the flanks. However, you can put dummy melee, ranged or archers there if you like to waste resources/rubies on that rubbish.

Go to the "technical problems & bugs" section of the forum. Look at the "missing troops" thread.

So just to recap....
That's why for newbies... Keep=800 + Storage=1700 = Capacity=2500
The Keep... has storage and is protected... in this case 800
The Hideout... protects 750 from Storage... so more Hideouts and sacrifices space, more protected storage.
I just want to clarify in this scenario...
Keep=800 + Hideout=750 = Protected=1550
So 1550 each for wood, stone, and food right???
