oh well......This will give a shock to those players who don't have guards....
In our server...A lvl 70 wasn't having any guards on ICE & food was on 3 days....
In a night he was sabotaged like hell & due to fire all over, His sols. deserted in night only.....leaving a few of them....
& after that you can't even imagine how badly he was attacked by other players....

Guardhouses will not entirely prevent someone attacking or sabotaging you, it just increases the odds that someone takes a blind eye to your castle/op because of the guards. Sabotage will be more less likely, but espionage & attacks not that much.
If someone really wants to attack you he might try to send agents as often as it takes to get a successful espionage. It also comes down to luck really... I failed 2 espionage in a row with 5% fail chance but I managed to get a espionage report on about 85% fail chance at 276 guards or something like that... (abandoned lv70 OP) twice.
But undoubtly, having a high amount of guards will give you more failed espionaged/sabotage mails than with a low amount, which makes you more difficult to burn down / be attacked successfully.

So, what can we do in this situation? Are you always being sabotaged? Does it bother you that you constantly being targeted? Well, the solution is relatively simple and it does take resources of course, but it is well worth it.
In my time here, which is roughly 8 weeks give or take a week, I have only been attacked 3-4 times by robber barons and only once sabotaged by another alliance. I have gone around and attacked others as part of an alliance but I have never been the subject of an attack from another alliance.
I resolved this niggly problem by installing as many guardhouses as possible within my main castle. You need to start off with a minimum of 6 level 1 guardhouses. This is very important as this will give you 30 guards. If you are between level 15-20, this might give you some breathing space against those who only have 6 spies. However, there will come a time when you will go up a few levels and you will constantly be spied on or have your main/outposts spied upon.
If you can build at least 6 level 3 guardhouses, you will have at your disposal 90 guards who will deter any attack. Just this morning, I had a level 42 spy on me with 15 spies, but it was repelled. This is very important, the more guards you have, the less information the enemy will have on how you are set up. They have got a choice after that, either go in blind and lose all their troops or go for another member of the same alliance that isn't set up the same as you.
As long as you have between 90-100(Yes, I have 100 guards on one of my outposts), then they cannot get the information which is to your advantage. You could have 0 troops or only have 50, have no defence tools or have a few, it doesn't matter, they will never know and they do not want to take the risk. The idea is to create carnage or gain information without getting caught as it could bring war between alliances.
Anyway, enough of this guide to guard houses. I hope it helps and remember, the more guards you have, the more of an advantage you have.
if you really need 6-12 then fine but 4 does me grand cause you can always use rubies to repair the damage and food is more important then protecting against sabs so concentrate on getting as much PO as you can, space is vital.

Thank you so much - this was the exact information I was looking for. I was spending all day in my outpost just building guardhouses, and I was wondering if it was worth deligating an entire day to. You put me at ease.

Is there a bonus if you have 10 guardhouses?

If you have an over production of food, recruit more soldiers.
If they see you have lots of troops. If you have more than enough defensive troops hire a lot of attack troops. This will disuade anyone from messing with you.

Thank you, I have only been playing for 3 days, and just hit level 12, I jave 3 level 1 guardhouses, but I will build more as soon as my estate finishes building. Thanks for the advice. One question I do have is how do I loot? Someone looted me, and there is a quest for me to loot someone. I have no idea how to do it.

Cannot believe that an old thread like this was bumped lol.
Anyways as you are a low level guardhouses / production of res is very important, as you travel through the levels you will find that the number of players with guards decreases until you get to a fully developed level 70.
A good majority of the players I know who are of level 70 simply have hardly no guards as they make no difference. People go in blind more often than not so the enemy doesn't have the slightest clue.
The ONLY important thing as a high level is the cast equipment. Anything else is an extra as from the ratios you can pretty much guess what troops are which (if you spy on 50%)
Res production follows the same trend with ALOT of level 70's having no res production as by that stage you should be looting AT LEAST 5 million a week I'd say which gives you enough for tool making etc. Any extra is only donated to the alliance (which is most likely maxed anyway) so just gets wasted as you ae fully developed and have no use for resources.
Hope this helps.
