Hi. This is the first time i ever use my math skills to help people other than myself :P
I have calculated how many coins you do get per 1 population depending on the time lapse of each tax collection.
I used search and i couldn't find any thread about this, If there is and i didn't notice it i'm sorry if i'm wasting your time.
I used my own personal data, as in population and revenue of each collection in my own account.
P is # of population. R is revenue of coins depending on each tax collection. R/P is revenue(# of coins) per 1 population(one person).
I'm also showing how i calculated the ratios so people who doubt the results would believe them :P.
And i'm putting results clearly and neatly with different colors so there won't be any room for reading errors, like mistaking revenue with ratios etc...
The results are the following:
- 10-minutes: P=1145; R=427. R/P= 427/1145= 0,372 R/P.
10 min: 0,372 R/P.
- 30-minutes: P=1145; R= 846. R/P= 846/1145= 0,738 R/P.
30 min: 0,738 R/P.
- 1h-30-minutes: P=1145; R=1692. R/P= 1692/1145= 1,477 R/P.
1h 30 min: 1,477 R/P.
- 3h: P=1145; R=2539. R/P= 2539/1145= 2,217 R/P.
3h: 2,217 R/P.
-6h: P=1145; R=3847. R/P= 3847/1145= 3,359 R/P.
6h: 3,359 R/P.
-12h: P=1145; R=9233. R/P= 9233/1145= 8,063 R/P.
12h :8,063 R/P.
-24h: P=1145; R=24662. R/P= 24662/1145= 21,538 R/P.
24h: 21,538 R/P.
--After i did these calculations, i wanted to know if the results are constant so i asked a friend to tell me about his population and revenue of each tax collection, but he was doing a 6h tax collection and couldn't give me any of the information other than the ones on the 6h but whenever i can, i'll ask for the information and when i get them, i'll type them here though edit. So i calculated the 6h and i got this:
-6h: P=2019; R=6519. R/P= 6519/2019= 3,228 R/P
6h(2019 P; 6519 R): 3,228 R/P
So my friend has 3,228 R/P in 6h and i have 3,359 R/P
That's pretty close isn't it ? Now i am a level 44 and he's at level 54.
3,359>3,228 so my ratio of R/P is higher, but since i have lower population, i get less coins even if my R/P > than his. So either leveling up or getting more population reduces your R/P ratio but by a really small negligible amount.
I'm going to re-post all results again in order so they can be referred to clearly.
10 min: 0,372 R/P.
30 min: 0,738 R/P.
1h 30 min: 1,477 R/P.
3h: 2,217 R/P.
6h: 3,359 R/P.
6h(2019 P;6519 R): 3,228 R/P
12h :8,063 R/P.
24h: 21,538 R/P.
EDIT: I'm sorry haven't noticed it until now but i remembered i have level 3 levies so the ratios will deffer by 12% if you have level 0 levies
EDIT(2): In any tax collection, when the remaining time for collecting the taxes is down to 0, the amount of coins you obtain is R/4. so if you get 400 taxes in any amount of time, after time running out completely you'll get 400/4=100 coins.

this isnt a very good way of showing your results. you need to take time into account if you want to lvl the results.a better way imo would be to have normalized around the 10min mark.
so ill start for you.
normalized for 10min returns:
10min: 0,372 r/p
30mins: 0,738/3 = 0,246 r/p
1.5 hours: 0,738/9= 0,082 r/p
this will also show the diminishing returns from longer tax periods.
just my 5 cent.

I was under the impression that you gained (in a 10 minute collection) 1 coin for every 3 population. Rounding comes into play, but I'm not sure if they round properly or always up/down. Bonuses are just applied to the end number - 3000 population with level 5 levies (research) would result in 1200 coins per 10 minutes. This is all assuming that you collect on time (within 50% of the time allowed or while a tax collector bribe is active).
I'll try and get some raw data so I can work out how they get the figures for 30 mins, 90 mins etc. Obviously the longer times will result in less coins per second (with the exception of the ruby collections), but knowing the exact figures and stats would be nice.
I'm also going to try and work out the exact cost of collecting late, however, I have worked out that collecting after the entire time has expired gives you 1/4 (one-quarter) or the normal amount of coins.
BTW, if anyone didn't already figure this out, the cost for a 10 min collection is 0 but costs for all other collections are 1/10 (one-tenth) of the amount gained after collecting. EDIT: This seems to have changed. I now believe the cost to gain ratio to be 1:10.8.
The time you have to collect (without a bribe) is the same as how long the original time you sent the tax collector out for. After 50% of that time is up, you start losing coins.
RAW DATA:
2870 population
10 min – 1032
30 min – 2046 (189 cost)
90 min – 4091 (378 cost)
3 hrs – 6137 (568 cost)
6 hrs – 9299 (861 cost)
12 hrs – 22317
24 hrs – 59512
STATS:
10 min tax above gives 1.72 coins/second.
30 min gives 1.136666... coins/second.
90 min gives 0.7575925925... (the 925 recurs) coins/sec.
3 hrs = 0.5682407407... (407 recurs) coins/sec.
6 hrs = 0.43050925925... (925 recurs).
12 hrs = 0.5165972222222....
24 hrs = 0.6887962962962...
10 min gives almost 4 times as much coins/sec as 6 hr.
12 hrs and 24 hrs give more coins/sec than 6 hrs (and 24 hrs even beats 3 hrs) but they cost rubies and are generally awkward with timing (you'd prefer to get 10 coins now than 10 coins in 12 hours).

it is about .37 coins per citizen.

Why post on such an old thread?

This is easier, not necessarily more accurate but not as difficult to work out:
Tax Calculations Before Bribe
10 mins = 1/3 of your population (rounded)
30 mins = 2/3 of your population (rounded)
1 hour 30 mins = 1.3x population (rounded)
3 hours = 2x population (rounded)
6 hours = 3x population (rounded)
12 hours =7.2x population (rounded)
24 hours = 19.2x population (rounded)
Tax Calculations Before Bribe
10 mins = 1/3 of your population (rounded)
30 mins = 2/3 of your population (rounded)
1 hour 30 mins = 1.3x population (rounded)
3 hours = 2x population (rounded)
6 hours = 3x population (rounded)
12 hours =7.2x population (rounded)
24 hours = 19.2x population (rounded)
