I am new to the game and on level 7. I wondered what the exclamation mark is under my castle. I have noticed it under a castle not too far from me, what does it mean.

If you mean the purple semicircle with a white exclamation mark on it- that is on the world map- that just means you're looking for an alliance.

My food is slowly going down. I have 3 farms all on level 2. I have 65 people. How do I get more people? I am on level 7. I have about 90 soldiers in total. Is that too many for the level to feed??

If the amount of food you have listed is red, it means you have more soldiers than you can feed. I don't know exactly how much you need, but if you mouse over the display of your amount of food. It will tell you how much food you're producing and how much food you're consuming. Don't let the amount your consuming get any higher than the amount you're producing. When you get to that point, you need to stop making soldiers until you have more farmhouses and are producing more food. You will know you have too many soldiers when your food number turns red. Then, definitely stop. Also, to get rid of the soldiers, that depends on how much food you are losing. If its declining very slowly, you may be able to just build another farmhouse and you will have enough food to supply your soldiers. If its declining quickly, I don't think there's anything you can do besides killing all your soldiers in a battle you can't win, or waiting for your food to get to zero, at which point all the soldiers you can't feed will desert.
