So can you actually get a lot of coins for setting the theif free? Because right now I only get like ten.

It varies based on your level. If you're getting "like ten", then you're probably a very low level (no offense).

I don't see any moral dilemma with letting him free "for money." The way I see it, he paid a fine for stealing.

Although if you think about it, he was caught stealing from the royal treasury, YOUR money, so you wouldn't really be making a profit in the real world because the gold he "gave" you was yours originally.

The guards took the money back off him, then gave him to you to decide what to do with him. The thief then paid an extra fine for stealing.

Just to reiterate, NO, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON why you should kill the thief. These resource events don't really make sense, because there is no advantage to taking what is the most obviously wrong choice.

The thief gives more coins but appears less frequently as you level up - it's the same with all decision-making events. It's got nothing to do with "battles", you don't *have* to "level them up" - leveling up should be its own reward and decision-making events should be the least of your concerns.

Do you want to waste coins or gain coins? Your decision. Set him free every time

I used to kill him thinking it might impact PO... but now i dont give a damn unless i am being paid to set him free... take all you want thief as long as i am getting the coins... ;)

There's no purpose to killing him. The game really DOES ask you "do you want to get free coins or waste coins?" Kind of pointless, but when you advance in the levels executing him costs more and releasing him earns you more coins...I get over 200 for releasing him but it costs about 135 to kill him. What do you think I'm gonna do...?

Oh, and for those of you who are concerned about the highwaymen, don't be. You don't have to bribe them within a certain amount of time; they have no impact on you whatsoever. Just let 'em hang around until you have enough units to punish them...

or does the game seriously just ask you if you either want to get paid or taxed with no other consequence?

just seems like constantly letting him go for gold would eventually have some sort of impact on something...

Nope. You just decide whether you are a cruel person or not :p.
