I have all the puzzle pieces. What do I do next?

Click on the adventure button, then you can click on the towers in the map to start the adventure.

Yeah, kinda confusing the first time I did it too. Very bottom-right of the screen.

Have plenty of troops, you can lose quite a few if you don't plan properly.

Agreed. Use the type of troop that best counters your enemies. Use melee attack to counter ranged defence, and ranged attack to counter melee defence.
WARNING: For some reason you can't use any of your own equipment. You get a random commander with no bonuses. (I'm gonna start a poll on that soon.)

The adventures have been like that since the start of the game, I will find unfair for the players that did adventures before if now they allow you to use your own commanders.
In all PvE events and adventures you can't use your own commanders either.
Also the towers don't have castellan bonuses, so there is nothing to complain about.
