This tip works VERY WELL if you have a very large attacking army in the everwinter glacier. Keep half ranged attackers and half melee attackers. Use the melee attackers to defeat barbarian fortresses. Use 100% melee attackers in it.Cover the right and front flanks on the fortress. Attack level 20 towers using 100% ranged attackers and cover the left and right flanks. You will lose 5 soldiers on every attack.
If you want, you can keep 100% melee attackers in your main ice castle to attack ice fortresses.
Or you can keep 100% ranged attackers in your main ice castle to attack level 20 barbarian towers. There's a certain limit of towers that you attack level up, and im not sure what it is, but it means that you dont have to attack towers 100s of units way.
Either way you make a profit in coins and is a great way to use your commanders. I would use the 100% melee army if I were short on rubies and in dire need of them because each fortress gets you 50 rubies and 10k coins. The towers get you around 2,000 coins and other resources and a rare piece of equipment.

You can also get Epic equipment in Barbarian Towers.

Use the melee attackers to defeat barbarian fortresses. Use 100% melee attackers in it.Cover the right and front flanks on the fortress.
The above advice will result in some pretty big troop losses.
A better strategy is listed below - but it's not really worth the losses.
Wave no.||Left flank||Center||Right flank
1) ||Martyr Wave||Martyr wave|| Dont attempt
2) ||15 ranged,8 melee with 10 mantlets|||Ranged with 20 mantlets||Dont attempt
3) ||All melee||All melee||Dont attempt
If you have four waves send in another wave of martyrs.

This is not true. When you attack fortesses of any kind you should send the first 3 waves with one man per flank and gate , this way it gets rid of there toos , the last wave you use only ranged attacker veteran crossbowmen , with 20 mantlets , on each flank , left and right and 5 ladder and rams and 20 mantlets in the gate. This minimses your loses and great profit. So know what you are saying before you say it , because meelle have no extra defense while ranged does.

what is the 3rd martyr for on the left and right flanks? they only have 2 waves worth of tools.This is not true. First off, AgentY said nothing about using mantlets or martyr waves - so I was addressing the method originally posted in this thread: "Use 100% melee attackers in it. Cover the right and front flanks on the fortress."
Nonetheless, in Everwinter, with three waves - the losses with your method would be about 14, including the martyr waves. With my method, about 18 - 20 with the martyrs. Cost of cast iron mantlets for your method would be 640. For my method 480.
The troop losses either way would be greater using resource mantlets. While the coin payout is nice, Everwinter towers only pay out 50 rubies. If you analyze the costs in Everwinter - I wouldn't say that's "great profit." I can't speak to how it works out if you have 4 waves or for other kingdoms, though it's my understanding that sands and peaks are much more profitable.

My version Wave one Matyr wave/matyr wave/don't attempt
Wave two Matyr wave/ don't attempt/don't attempt
Wave three 8 crossbowmen 15 macemen 10 manlets/29 crossbowmen 38 macemen with 11 manlets 9 rams/don't attempt
Wave four Left over troops no tools don't attempt right flank.
I got 43 loss using this with a 20% commander of ranged and melee.

I have 3 barbarian towers maxed out. Normally when I get off for the day I send attacks at them. I get 0-40 rubies, 19,000+ coins and have about 4 losses per tower. This works much better than attacking level 20's. If you attack 9 level 20's you will get about 18,000 coins. For 3 attacks with me I get 19,000+. This strategy works much better.
