Hello everyone,
I am creating this Ruby Spending guide for everyone really- everyone who is thinking "Should I buy this or not?" I myself admit to making terrible ruby spending choices. I almost hate seeing players buying things like upgraded townhouses instead of bakeries. This guide will be split into two parts, for Ruby Buyers, and Non-ruby buyers. So let's get started.
Ruby Buyers
Buy a bakery in your main castle. Buy level 1 bakeries in all other castles, and keep rubies saved for castles you haven't unlocked yet. So if you haven't unlocked Burning Sands and Fiery peaks, keep at least 2,500 rubies for there. From now on, upgrade your bakeries depending on how many rubies you have/plan on buying. Start upgrading the bakeries in castles you need the most troops in. Upgrade the bakeries in your food outposts last, as they can hold the most food (well if you captured food outposts... WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE) You might even end up upgrading all bakeries to level 3 in the other kingdoms before you upgrade yours in the Great Empire, because you have lots of alliance members near you to support you. Whatever you feel is right.
BUT before you start upgrading any to level 3, I suggest you upgrade a stables where needed. I upgraded my stables in my 8 food outpost, which was placed in between my main and other outposts, because I stationed troops from there very often.
Watchtowers get tricky. I would ONLY buy a watchtower if my outposts were far away and I didn't have upgraded stables in the needed castles. Or, you can buy a watchtower in your needed castle instead of upgraded stables, but stables is recommended more by me. Where do you place the watchtower then? Place it in a castle that's far away from your others. I only bought one watchtower, because my 2 outposts and main were very close together, while my third outpost was a bit farther.
Now for the TOOLS! Stick with resource tools, and wait for the armorer to come round. Buying ruby tools is useless when armorer tools are so much better. Save your rubies and buy tons of armorer tools, as many as you think you need.
Lastly, keep 625 rubies per week so you can buy a food overseer every week. EXTREMELY helpful. 25% more food production, 25% more troops! I would keep an additional 990 for when the veteran overseer comes around.
So, what about the townhouses, ruby decos, architect building etc; Well... I would recommend those if you have 10 million rubies. Spend what, 5,000+ rubies on townhouses to save 10 PO, which can easily be replaced by a resource deco that gives 100+ PO? Sure, space is an issue, but I haven't met anyone who would throw so much money into the game for such a pathetic advantage. The only exception to use ruby decos is for the best deco in the game, spending them otherwise is a waste.
I hope this guide has helped you out. I really hated the mistakes I made before, but it was all a learning experience. This was my first guide and any feedback would be appreciated, and if you think I've missed something (which I probably did), don't hesitate do tell me
As this game develops, GGS is just coming up with more and more ways to suck you into spending your $$, then tricking you into buying useless things. Part 2, for non-ruby buyers will be posted soon.
Thanks,
ShadowSlayer

that is all good advice, except maybe also some rubies for chasing rv's when they spawn, I have a month of the food overseer, a good investment after you get to level 51 and can A hit sand forts with reasonable losses and B, send attacks 33% larger, requiring more food as a base.
Also, I am curious, never heard of the veteran overseer, what % bonus does he give??
