I would really, really suggest making the event permanent, it still gives out rewards at the end of events, and after ~90 days gives out rewards for placement. Except there is no gold etc, it's just points. So points are earned the same way as normal, but 1st get 4 points, 2nd gets 3 etc 5th gets 0, 6th loses 1 point, 7th loses 2 points etc. 

Season pass, same except twice as expensive and twice as long - to match real life seasons. Plus more title to earn, and probably give roman numerals too make up for the fact there would be so many too keep players interested, but do not cap points whatever you do, please thank you.

GGE has enough problems without trying to change something that is at least working to a degree.
